A lady came in today. Rag-tag, looked like she had fun at the Goodwill clothing blowout clearance. Normally, I really don't judge based on that, but the following conversation took place...
"I'd just like to let you KNOW that you're scamming all these people in here!"
I look up from my paperwork.
"I'm sorry, we're what?"
"YOU'RE CHARGING $30 FOR THESE BLINDS! EVERY OTHER PLACE HAS THEM FOR $10. YOU'RE SCAMMING PEOPLE OUT OF MONEY BECAUSE THEY'RE A NEW PRODUCT AND THEY DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER!" She is screaming. I am serious. Screaming over blinds.
She throws down these pieces of paper. They're printouts of price comparisons from the internet. I look at them, yes, they are the same kind of product, but it's a completely different brand.
"Ma'am, these are store brands, they run much cheaper than name brands. The blinds we carry are *insert name brand here*. If you'd like to return it, I can refund you if you want."
"NO! THEY'RE THE SAME BLINDS! YOU'RE RIPPING PEOPLE OFF! And you know what?" (Her voice got dangerously quiet) "I just wanted to let you know because I swear I'm going to sue your company for RIPPING PEOPLE OFF. I am going to call your corporate headquarters as soon as possible! I want their number right now!"
"Okay. (I write down the number.) They appreciate all feedback."
Without another word, she marches away.
NOT FIVE MINUTES LATER, she comes back.
"I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY RUDE YOU DID NOT CALL CORPORATE FOR ME. HOW DARE YOU! THIS IS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!"
My co-worker, also a sup, who had witnessed the prior incident, hops in.
"Ma'am, you asked for the number, which we gave you. You did not ask us to call for you. Normally, we would had, but the corporate call office is closed on Sundays."
During this exchange, I pull up her account and print the info out. Somehow, I knew it'd be handy...
"Well, I've told all these people in here what bad service you give! I'm going to go back to those blinds and put up a sign that you're cheating people out of money for them!"
"Ma'am, if you like, we can get a manager for you.
She walks away again, without another word, like a pissed teenager that won't speak to their parents, out of the building.
Ten minutes later, I'm helping another person, I see her march back into the building. I call up front and warn my co-worker she's coming back and heading her way.
I eventually get a call back from the MOD, asking if I could please give him that info I printed, which I did, gladly.
I didn't get to witness this, but apparently, she started going off on the front end about the blinds again and started threatening to picket and sue us. She started going from line to line bothering customers about this, and the MOD had to get her to stop. He pulled her into the office, showed her the difference between the blinds, then escorted her out of the building.
The rest of the night, at a random moment, any of us would scream, "These blinds are expensive, I'll SUE!" to crack all the other employees up.
