  • Immature? Maybe. Satisfying? Definately.

    Bit 'O Background:
I haven't been around for a long time so, for those of you who don't know, I was a Store Director for Hollywood Video.
I quit my job and have decided to be a housewife. I know some of you who've been around awhile will be a bit surprised by that. I have my reasons- don't look for any explanitory threads anytime soon. My signature line says all that needs to be said.

    Story:
The day I went in to pick up my last paycheck I was in regular clothes- obviously. Didn't even remotley look like I was there for any kind of work. Probably looked like more like I was ready for a day at the beach.
I stood at the end of the counter, which is by the double entry/exit doors as there is really no where else to stand waiting.

This rude, obnoxious guy walks in carrying movies to return. I don't remember seeing him before but he must have recognized me as an employee. What he did next happenes surprisingly often and ALWAYS annoyed the sh*t out of me. When I was an employee I'd have just smiled and said, "Thanks!"

He thrusts the movies towards me- as though wanting to implant them in my chest. Perhaps a quarter to half an inch from them touching me.

I look at the movies and take a step back.

He takes a step forward and starts waving them in my face saying, "Where do you want these?
Me: "I don't." takes another step back.
Him: Takes another step forward waving them more frantically in my face. "WHAT do you want me to do with these?!?"

(Now, I've pretty much had it. I realize he had no way of knowing I was no longer an employee- but trust me when I say it was quite obvious I WAS NOT on the clock.)

Me: I look him dead in the eye and very calmly state, "You can do whatever the Hell you want to with them- I really don't care."

    Him: *jawdrop- sputters*

    Me: *feels that justateaSnickers satisfaction*

We need to figure out how to bottle that and sell it to retail drones everywhere.

Wait, they DO bottle it! It's called booze.

Congrats on making it out alive!

One of the things I was looking forward to when I quit Sears was the opportunity to do just that. Sadly, it never arose.

          I'm envious.

I would've told him exactly where he could've stuck those movies...

And kudos to you on your decision to be a housewife. Wish I had that option. Now you will just have to deal w/ the multiple job descriptions that come w/ that title instead of these sucky-a$$ customer in retail. Good for you!!!
If you don't like my attitude, talk to the manager!!! Oh, wait, that would be me!!

Yes, I'm the manager. I'm also known as "the brick wall".

Good for you being a housewife. I think the experiment has failed: two-working-parent families raise more psychotic losers than single-working-parent families.

If your husband (and excuse the presumption of your marital status from the term "housewife") is anything like me, he'll appreciate that you have more energy. Perhaps time in the day to prepare nice dinners once-in-a-while.

I hope it works out for you!

                        Thanks everybody.

                        I am married, yes.
Being at home has afforded me the opportunity to do things I had stopped doing because I was too tired and stressed.
                        Like- cooking.
I hate to admit it but for a long time there we lived out of the microwave. I actually like to cook and my family is very appreciative of having real meals everyday again.

I've actually had the chance to go to the beach a couple of times even. We moved here, mostly, so I could be close to the beach and I hadn't been since last July because my job was too demanding of my time and energy.

My hubby always says, "When The Mama ain't happy- nobody's happy." LOL

I probably would have told him to stick them up his a$$, but that's just me.

Awesome. I tend to aspire towards being a housewife myself. I just need to get the wife and house parts first. So congratulations. No explanations needed.

As for the actual purpose of your post. Awesome. Who did the guy think he was, shoving stuff at, for all he knew, a random person. I mean, even if he did recognize you... Ugh. Good job handling it.
