And complaining about the exact same thing! Only this time she was MUCH more angry about it, yelling at the editors, who just kept repeating that what she was asking was basically impossible to do on a daily basis, which just made her keep insisting that OF COURSE IT WAS POSSIBLE. After all, she deemed it to be, therefore, IT MUST BE!

Fortunately, the editors basically just outlasted her in Pissing Contest Version 2.0 (I was the winner of Pissing Contest Version 1.0, ha), and then outraged her entirely by informing her that we couldn't simply hand her a cut-out of the weekly puzzle, she would have to actually spend FIFTY CENTS to buy an ENTIRE NEW PAPER. HORROR.

Meantime, I was just amazed (also grossed out) to see that her teeth are in the exact same shape. You'd think since she obviously takes no care of them that they would have deteriorated in 13 months, but no. Which implies that she keeps them like that for a REASON.

Ew.

EDIT: I actually went back and looked. Last year when she came, it was also on a Monday.

This is significant because in the three years I've been here, Monday has always been my day off. It's an extremely unusual circumstance for me to be in the office on a Monday. Yet in both of these incidents, for whatever reason, I was in the office on a Monday to be exposed to this.

Which, my boss says, means somehow I'm responsible for this. *snerk* Good to know.

Why doesn't she just cut the paper in a way so that it has the full puzzle on one side, and the cartoon on the other?

I just imagine this woman sitting there methodically day after day, cutting out the puzzle to do later while getting heinously drunk, and then cutting out the cartoon, pasting them all up on a wall somewhere inside her shack.

I'm pretty much shock-proof, so I went and tried it... with safe-search off too. Pretty much your standard porn on the first page, and I didn't bother digging deeper.

If you have massive amounts of fluoride in your water, you'll end up with sturdy brown-stained teeth. The stains can be dark as dark chocolate and are permanent - and while they make you look like your teeth are rotting, they cause no other harm.

Mind you, if you grow up with a municipal water supply, that won't be a problem; they'd have to be putting two or three the normal amounts into the water for years, and it'd only have an effect on children. It'd have to be something like well water from a fluoride-bearing area.

And there are medicines that can also have the same problem. My teeth and bones, alas, are all stained yellow from a medicine I was given when I was a baby in Germany. Of course I got veneers. Just like most people who have permanently stained teeth.

two stories:

One. This doctor was doing the crosswords from the library's paper. And then she woudl cut them out and take them home. It took a long time for the staff to figure out it was her, partly because when someone complained already a bunch of people already had their hands on the paper earlier. Partly because, well, she's a doctor. Why would a doctor go to the library and cut out the cross-word puzzle, when she could have bought a copy?

Two. We get people calling the library asking for help on the cross-word puzzles. One woman (cross-word lady) called, let's say in Feb. :

C-WL: I need help with a cross word puzzle. the clue is "monument in India. It's two words. I have TAJ M----."
Me: (without bothering to look it up) TAJ Mahal.
C-WL: Thank you.
