Can someone tell me what a Chick Tract is?

When I waitressed, I got a couple of the religious pamphlets in lieu of tips, is that a chick tract?

This is the one that infuriated me to the highest point. I can become quite... vocal when dealing with that kind of ideas, and people who spread and share them.

I don't get into D&D or other role playing games, myself. I do have family and friends who are into it big time, though. That's quite a skewed view of role play gamers. YIKES!!!!

        The Mayan Calendar?

As far as I know, it's called the Long Count calendar. I think the Short Count or whatever it was called was like days of the week, and the Long Count dictated the years and decades according to their cycle. I may be getting muddled up with the Mexica/Aztec calendar but these two calendars intertwine, and every day has a number up to...about two hundred thousand or something like that?
<pedant> The Mayan calendar was two calendars at once, one for about 365 days (time for the Earth to revolve around the sun) and one for their religions days with 260 days in it. The 'day' was a compound word for what day it was for each calendar. In essence, it repeated every 52 years. </pedant>

So every 52 years, the world "ends". If you can live 'til 2064, you'll get to see it end twice!

Yeah there's something special, for the first time, there is a nominee who is not an old, white male. That's special.

For the first time, a woman ran and almost won the nomination. That's special.
          Actually:

In 1872, [Frederick] Douglass was nominated as the vice presidential candidate on the Equal Rights Party ticket with Victoria Woodhull, the first woman to run for President of the United States.
          Don't wanna; not gonna.

When people ask me who I'm voting for, my answer is the party that does not hold the majority in Congress. That way, nothing except the important things will get done. Look what almost 8 years of one party dominance has given us. Look at the 90s. We had opposing parties in the Executive and Legislative branches, and we were doing pretty good.

            Coincidence? Read the book.

I'm actually not voting for the democrat or republican parties. I'm voting for a third one -- that way they can see that there isn't voter apathy, there's just a lot of people who don't want them in.

I view a vote as the only wasted one is one used for a candidate you actually don't want in.

                On the election: Obama.
I'd rather vote Libertarian but, realistically, there's no way in hell anyone but the Dem/Rep candidates will win this election, and I'm not wasting my vote.

The only time you actually waste your vote, is if you don't vote at all.

And while I do believe the series has hyped up and contributed a lot to a lot of people's mindsets right now with this election, the Antichrist in the books was not black. He was actually of Slavic descent...his name was Nicolias and I believe he was Russian or Ukranian. He was also never President of the US...rather, ended up President of the UN.
Yikes ! Then it might be OUR president ! He's of Hungarian ancestry, he's name is Nicolas, and is currently president of the EU. That's close enough, isn't it ?

Though the bets around here about who is the Antichrist point towards Prince Edward. Or one of his siblings. I don't really care enough to remember.

I'm not voting for anyone until 2010. And anyway, I vote Cthulhu.

Chick Tracts. They can be funny if you read them with the right mind set. Of course, some are scary, and others just sad.

A long while back, I was nearly temtped to buy a shirt that read 'I hate your favourite band'. I now want a badge reading, 'I hate your preferred political party'.

I used to have that shirt. Only it read "Your Favorite Band Sucks."

The nice little Dec 21, 2012 date.... actually it's said that the Myan calendar doesn't end it repeats -- they didn't believe in a linear timeline.
I was told it was supposed to signify a 'Great change' to occur in the world. Not an end of days.

You piqued my curiosity with that one. I couldn't figure out what the hell the Edward Windsor could possibly have done to considered the Antichrist. It's actually Prince Charles....or, he could be a Davidic servant.
