I spent most of last weekend volunteering at AVCon (http://www.avcon.org.au/). I was on the registration desk.
I will be working the registration desk for BrickFair on Labor Day weekend. This is a Lego convention for adult fans of Lego. We are expecting 300-500 attendees. These are usually very well behaved people. On Saturday and Sunday we will be open to the public. We are expecting 2000-3000 people to come through to look at the displays. At previous events (BrickFest) the public has been well behaved, and I hope they will not give me any stories to post here afterwards. Wish me luck.

Heh. Jennie's a blast. We interviewed her at Chattacon. Had to edit it down a good bit to keep it PG-13. It was amusing to hear her explain to passersby that the Devil's Panties isn't Satanic porn.
Aye - she's a hoot. I ambushed her in Atlanta about three years back, and then she came to Bristol in the UK and I met her there again.
*I* on the other hand who have learned the trick of getting Scott to and from his events ON TIME!!! Am assigned to him.
(Scott is a sweety, but he stops and talks to EVERY SINGLE FAN that calls his name when trying to get him to and from places.)
So you walk around with your fingers in his ears?
I'm really gonna miss animefest this year. Its the only time I get to see Greg and Chris Ayres.(I'm moving out of state)
I'f you're near Cincinnati, come join us at SugoiCon. The Ayres have been our guests for the last 2-3 years, and I think they'll be there again this year. Greg is a nice enough guy. I had a long conversation with him in the Con Suite. He even forgave me that I didn't know who he was at the time.

Would be fun to go to one of those cons; tho I'd be seriously tempted to get a pedobear t-shirt and wear it there. XD
I always love it when fangirlies fight; it's hilarious. Particularly if they're squeeing over a fricking fictional character as if they're a real person... Sasuke fangirls are the most fun; most of them do not recognise logic at all.

Anime fangirls can be really scary. Otakukin, anyone?
I work as a video room drone. I remember the mass *hiss* that arose when they showed Duo's (Gundam Wing) girlfriend during the Wing movie's credits. She didn't even have a speaking part people! You're jealous of a fictional girlfriend for a fictional character!

logic and anime are rarely bed cousins...serial experiment lain
Oh HELL yes. Haven't seen Eva, but SEL is truly a mind-screw of epic proportions. Every so often on rec.arts.anime some poor soul will ask "Why does XYZ happen in Lain?". The most recent fight on that front was "Does Lain Iwakura have Asperger's?" which devolved into mudslinging pretty quickly. No real answer was ever reached IIRC.

Eeekkk! Tell Jennie that Shay says hi! I was "in charge" of her and shared a room with her at Penguicon... Jennie is awesome!!!!!
*happy dance*
I help run cons, but I give myself the fun jobs now or I won't work them. :P I was the guest liaison for Randy Milholland one year at a Penguicon... and help run an auction with Neil Gaiman... and drank vodka with Terry Pratchitt... and hung out with Tamora Pierce... and, and....
And now I'm going to ruin all of that run and be on probably IRT (aka security) at Anime Central next year... ::
