Thank you everyone for the explanations.

KaySquirrel's links helped as well. In one of them I found the following:

"Ara be whist" apparently means Shut Up. That sounds like what she was probably trying to say, since I had started talking over her when she wouldn't listen.
Because as we all know, on the Internet all men are men, all women are men and all children are FBI agents.

What a lovely call that must have been.

As for the 'up your swiss' comment, I'll make a guess that it's based on the cheese. You know, swiss cheese has holes... yeah, not going to go further, I'm sure all of you can take it from there.

Man... makes me half homesick, and half glad I'm not there any more.

Ohhhhhh! Like, "haud yer wheesht"! But that's Scots. >.>

Can't explain why, but I understand Scots (not Gaelic).

I say, hardly worth the mental effort caring what epithets an SC uses.

SC: I'll speak to you any way I please! (?)
Old co-worker of mine had a fantastic comeback to that line:

No no ma'am, then you'll be talking to yourself!

I so wish I could have listened in on his call.
