Slow night, most people were at least tolerable then about thirty minutes to close I get this woman. At sonic our managers tell us to give away as many ones as possible near the end of the night if we have more than say fifty, I have on many occasions given away fifteen or more ones to people paying with large bills at the end of the night, if they ask nicely [I] will give them fives or tens, but most of them don't say anything so I don't worry about it.
I had around eighty at this point, only a couple fives and tens, this woman's order was like $5.32 or so and she gave me a twenty plus exact coins, so I count out her fifteen ones and just as I go to hand them to her she makes a disgusted groan and the following discourse occurs:
SC You have to be joking fifteen ones!?
Me No mam, people have been giving me ones all night, I have been giving them away for a while.
SC WELL, i WAS GOING TO GIVE YOU A TIP, BUT NOT NOW!
(I decided that since I wasn't getting a tip (which was bullshit anyway, people know if they are giving a tip before they order at a drive in, it doesn't work like a real restaurant) I could screw with her a bit)
Me Were you planning on giving me the ten or the five?
SC (shuts up and takes her ones, knowing that she was caught in the lie)
The moral of the story, people who complain about their change are not the type of people who are generous enough to tip.
