  • I witnessed the peon effect tonight

Me and co-worker P were holding the doors as Rocknrolla let out, thanking the customers as they left. One guy has brought out his popcorn box and drink cup and presses them into P's hands and says, 'Can you get rid of those for me.'

Now the customer would have walked past about a dozen bins before he reached the doors. But instead he chose to hand his rubbish to a worker to dispose of for him.

Well, you know, theaters are dark. He probably couldn't see them.

I had a customer sit in the lobby and eat and drink.Well there are no fewer then 8 trash cans in the lobby,so what the CS do?walk in my store and ask me to throw it away. I told him no there are 8 cans in the lobby. The look on his face was great. A mix of killed his puppy and like he was going to throw a toddler fit. I would have told him no,I'm busy with other customers and pointed to the nearest trash can.Its not rude if your helping others first.

Sadly, I encounter this situation everyday. I hate Scottsdale sometimes, I really do.

Occassionaly I walk into stores carrying a coffee cup or empty food wrapper, if I don't spot a trash can I will politely ask the employee if I can toss it in the trash can behind their desk. They usually pull out the can so I can throw it in without them touching it. (If they say no or redirect me to a bin I missed, I am polite about it) Is that sucky?

Oh yeah! And grinding dry foods like popcorn or cereal into the carpet. I really love doing that with gum too! *runs away*

Disclaimer: I'm kidding! I would never do that! Please don't beat me...

No, not sucky at all. Although the customer in question said, "can you get rid of these for me", he didn't actually wait for a response and pressed the rubbish into my CW's hands. It wasn't a polite request even though it was phrased that way, it was a fait accompli.

I've had customers ask me if I can take their rubbish, or if I have a bin behind the counter and that is fine, I will accomodate them.

The customer was sucky through his attitude.

I HATE when the customers ask me to throw away their garbage! I had one guy ask if I could throw away his beer bottle. Sir, I work in the cage, we're not even allowed to throw away tissues after blowing our noses into our trashes up front. Paper only. I kid you not. Besides there is always a trash like two inches away from them.

Furthermore we are not allowed to bring anything through the cage front. We'd have to phsycially leave the cage to bring anything into it. Except their gaming stuff but anything else we have to go out there.

I never, ever, ever ask an employee to throw my garbage away for me. I will walk around with my garbage in hand until I find a trash can. And, if I can't find one then I will take my garbage home with me and dispose of it at home. Seriously.

I just ask, "Is there a bin for this somewhere?"

Mostly customers just ask me for a bin to throw away the little plastic packets that drink straws come in. Unfortunately they are in a minority, most just dump them on the counter or drop them on the floor.

I feel sorry for our cleaners who clean the plane between sectors. The plane is normally a tip.

At my last airline we had to do 'cabin tidies' in between flights and it was pretty vile, we used to go round with rubbish bags before landing to save time.

I still get people who try to hand me used tissues etc...urgh it's just disgusting. I NEVER touch anything like that. My airline won't allow us to wear gloves as 'there is no proof that you can get germs from collecting in used meal trays etc...' What a lie! It's so that passengers won't be offended by you suggesting they are germy
                            No longer a flight atttendant!
