I had this gem today:
We had a fairly small staff (for a Saturday) today, which meant that I frequently had to pull customers from the front registers. Since these registers are the only ones capable of processing returns, I have to make sure that the customers I'm pulling aren't making one.
I went up to the front and brought the woman who was next in line over to my register in electronics. The guy behind her followed us over and got in line at my register. I finished ringing the woman up, and the guy stepped up to my register.
SC- "I need to make a return."
Me- "Returns have to go through the front register over there."
SC- "I waited in line for ten minutes!"
Me- "I'm sorry, sir, but I can't help you here."
SC- "Then why did you bring me over here?!"
Me- "I didn't bring you over here, sir, I brought her, and I made sure that she had a purchase first."
SC- "Well F**K YOU !" *storms off, accompanied by the stares of customers standing nearby*
What I don't understand is why he thought that I could do a return for him. I didn't speak to him at all before he came over, and I've never been to a store that did returns at departmental registers. Yet he assumed that I could process it and acted like it was my fault that he'd wasted his time.
