OK, so last night there was a busy spell (the only busy half hour of my shift)... I had 2 people checking in and about half a dozen phone calls... which doesn't sound that busy, but keep in mind... this was during the part of day when I'm frantically printing off the reports that need to be printed before midnight.
Most people understood that we were busy (even the people calling in... which is unbelievable)... except this one lady checking in. I am doing my best to multitask... her reservation is on my screen, the computer is going really slow on making her reg card so I decide to take one of the callers off hold to finish their reservation on the other computer... apparently this efficiency was wrong.
SC- why the hell are you helping other guests, I was here first (well actually know... the guest on the phone had called in first... I only put them on hold because other calls were coming in... I only started checking you in because you had been glaring at me and normally this is a quick process)
ME- *keeps working on callers reservation, while making it very clear that I'm busy making the guest's keys and reg card*
SC- well, you could at least pretend to be working on getting me in a room (wtf... do you not see me making your keys)
ME- *finishes reservation... doesn't well, not really, just enough to get an account number*
ME- ok, just about have you checked in, if I could just have you sign on the guest signature line please?
SC- oh, you were actually talking to me... I thought you had forgot about me standing here (how could I forget).
ME- didn't forget, just taking advantage of the computer going slow to multitask... and that was room 234, which is up the stairs and to the right.
SC- oh, why didn't I get a first floor room (I should mention she already requested me change the room type because she reserved only a single queen size bed for 3 people... why do people do that
)... and you guys don't even have an elevator... this is going to be such a pain.
ME- well, I do still have a first floor room available, if you'd like I can change your room if you'd like.
SC- no, it's taken too long as it is... besides, the ground floor rooms are smaller (two things, first, you asked why you didn't get first floor... which I'd have though meant you wanted first floor, second... with the exception of the suites that take advantage of the second floor not having the maint and housekeeping offices the rooms are the exact same size).
ME- ok, do you need a wake up call or shuttle in the morning.
SC- no, I don't need a wake up call.
and she walks off... oh yeah, and she asked called down 5 minutes later asking for a wake up call.
normally I wouldn't say she was that sucky... just the fact that she was the only person who couldn't understand the idea that I'm really busy. Oh and the fact that she kept wanting changes to her room but didn't want to you know... let me change it...
oh, and in case you were wondering... yes I was able to get all the reports printed on time.
