When I worked at Nordstrom I wore Italian shoes, usually Rangoni, as they seemed the best fit for my fit. This was back in the late 80's and I paid about $120 a pair. They are not quite as comfy as Ferragamo's, but good shoes are really worth the money, especially when you're working on your feet all day and you can't wear athletic shoes. They also last longer.
Go to a DSW sometime and try on the really expensive shoes. You'll find out why they cost ten times as much as Payless shoes.
