First off, we have 2 different "institutions of higher learning" in our town, the other one is big university. Said university has a very good basketball team and the players have a reputation (good and bad.)
The school that I work at, is not so big and is a community college. The basketball players are not so good and 90% of them are felons or just retards that the coach prolly found in the bad parts of a certain major city close by. Not to mention, no one gives a crap about them.
Now the university has a deal where the students get to use their Student Id's as a bus pass, which is nice. However, our school does not have the same system set up and bus passes can get expensive.
Now, I understand the urge to borrow someone's University ID to get on the bus for free, but I'd never actually do it.
Well, when I first got on shift today in the police department, this kid comes up asking about a lost University ID. One had gotten turned in and it matched the name he gave me, so Shangri-laschild went back to get it out of the box but it wasn't his picture on the ID. If things like that happen, we're not allowed to give them said ID. The kid hears this, and starts getting pissed off. Asks Shangri-laschild to go back and ask again, meanwhile he's like "You'd give the ID to me, right?" and I'm like "Uhm, no..."
Shangri-laschild comes back and explains to him again why we can't give it to him, so he asks to speak to the Sgt about it. Sgt. comes out of the back and asks him what's up and the first thing out of this kids mouth is: "Do you know who I am?" and sgt says no, and the kid says "Well, I'm one of the B-ball players." and starts to explain why he's got the ID. Reason being that he's using it to get back and forth to school and it's his roomate's ID.
Sgt tells him no, and the kid starts getting into it with him. Sgt would say no and give his reason, and the kid kept saying "Yeah, you've said that 30 times now. Just give it to me, this is rediculous. I can't believe you won't give it to me, I'm a trust worthy person." The kid wants to talk to another officer , which will do him no good because sgt is the only command here at the time. Sgt tells him that the owner has to come and get it himself, and the kid gets mad and tells him that his friend has no way to get here. (It's only a dollar to ride the damn bus.)
Sgt starts to get into why he's not giving it back. Among other reasons, it's fraud and illegal to use the ID like that. The kid starts getting pissed and starts arguing about it. Basically repeating the same thing, over and over and over again. He wanted the definition of "fraud", Sgt starts getting pissed off and tells him that he's going to call the university and let them know what's going on. Kid gets even more pissed off about it, and Sgt tells him to basically GTFO (in not so many words, but the tone...lol) and the kid starts going "Oh yeah, real nice. I hope you're able to sleep well at night mr. college police. Get a real job. " etc etc.
It was ridiculous. Meanwhile, Shangri-laschild and I were trying not to bust out laughing.
