How high/stupid do you have to realize this is not the hotel you checked into?
This reminds me of the time we went to Disney World, and my dad went off to get some Popeye's chicken. Not sure how it looked like a Popeye's, but he ended up walking into the Burger King next door instead.
Can't you refuse to take them or something in those cases?
ya i told the cops i dont want him even the he was guest of mine, if you had to pick him up at the bar you keep him. In hindsight i probably should have called the cops back and had him kicked out..but he didnt break anything and noone complained about the noise, though I had to tell him to shut up a few times.
It does make more a fun story though!
In fact everytime I work I get some good stories. Good customers and nutty ones. We get a lot of cool truckers and constuction worker regulars, in addition to the noisy/crazy travellers.
This is my most colorful "You've got the wrong hotel" story.
I had this beauty come in to my hotel to check in one time. She was beligerant from the get go, but, ya gotta be pleasant. Anyway, could not find her name, I searched two months back and forward, nothing. Of course, we were full, so I had nothing I could just walk her in with. I asked for a confirmation number, but by this time, she was screaming and swearing bloody murder. Her confirmation was in the car, and she refused to go and get it.
After the 12th time of telling her I couldn't help her unless I saw her confirmation, she went and got it, came back in, and literally threw it in my face. At this point I was fuming. I slapped it on the counter so loudly she jumped back. I proceeded to look the confirmation over as she is still screaming bloody curse words at me, I am a moron, she will have my job, and once this is over, her room better be comped, f-word this, f-word that. I finally notice the logo of a competing chain on the top of the confirmation....stupid hag had the wrong hotel. I smiled from ear to ear, full teeth showing, then proceeded to throw her confirmation back at her, and informed her she had the wrong hotel, and, since she was not reserved at my hotel, she could leave the building immediately.
Now, most people would have been embarrassed at their actions, but not this cookie. She informed me that I had "better effin' tell her" where this other hotel was. I again informed her there was a gas station down the street, and they could tell her, because I was officially done speaking to her, and told her again to leave. She kept at me to give her directions when these poor people, who had been waiting behind her for ten minutes, screamed at her to get out so they could check in, because, in their words, "unlike you we weren't stupid enough to go to the wrong hotel and act like an assh***". I pushed these folks ahead of her, and she finally stormed off.
On the flip side, she came in months later, again no reservation and wanted a room. As nasty as she was the first time I met her, I told her I had plenty of rooms available that night, but she would not be getting one from me, not if my job depended on it. She didn't put up much of a fight that time, and I never saw her again.
I generally believe people to be stupid until proven otherwise
Cynical, moi?
Nope. Just experienced.
