SL - “WHY ARE YOUR PRICES SO HIGH????? IT SAYS PRICES STARTING AT 30 DOLLARS IN THE PHONE BOOK.! I DEMAND YOU SELL ME A DOZEN ROSES FOR 30 BUCKS AND I AM NOT PAYING DELIVERY!!!!THE ECONOMY IS BAD SO I DEMAND YOU GIVE ME THISSSS!!”
Doesn't that usually mean that merch in the store is $30 and up? It does not mean that everything in the store is $30.
To right the countless wrongs of our days... We shine this light of true redemption, that this place may become as paradise...Oh, what a wonderful world such would be...

Roses are overrated and calla lilies are pretty if not expensive!

This is probably going to sound crazy as hell from working there but I love just a huge bunch of mini carnations in various shades of pink. You can get a huge bunch for five bucks just about anywhere, Aldis, Walmart, Safeway, Wegmans.. they last a long time and you can dry the flowers and put them in a pretty jar afterwards.

Fixed income is such a useless argument to make, it's not even valid.
Judging by many posts on here, incomes are going down as hours get cut. A fixed income would actually be a good thing.

Yeah, I work for one of the wire services, not FTD, not Teleflora and not 1800 Flowers. We work with all three of them.

            Roses are over-rated.

I'll take Cala Lilies any day.
Then you're more than welcome to come over to my house and get some home-grown ones. We keep those as a permanent fixture in our yard.

Ahhhhhh yes, my former florist has worked with your company before. We were affiliated with FTD, Teleflora, and 800Flowers as well, but we were on the delivery side with those orders.

Good luck this Christmas. I'm sure you'll have people demanding for delivery up the side of a mountain or some such. I had one two years ago and of course, not only were her parents living up the side of a mountain, but the stupid impossible to find Kinkade whatever was REQUIREDDD... Ugh.

Blame those orders on the freaking stoopid temps we hire. Those of us that have been working there a while have a realistic idea what is and isn't deliverable, know to run every addy/zip through the florist locater and take no orders more than about 7 miles from the nearest florist or town. Newbies only care about the sale, not realizing you will not get your commission for the sale if you sell something that is a) impossible to get everywhere, like that Kinkade Xmas thing or a gourmet basket and b) impossible to find a florist like most of Montana, Alaska, Idaho, or Hawaii or in a bad part of town, like East LA or Harlem.

People demand delivery up the side of the mountain and those of us working there for longer than three months will tell them no way can that happen.

The problem with the wire service I work for it that whole temp situation. They're untrained, they promise customers impossible crap and they don't know flowers or how difficult it is to do florist call out. I know that come 9 am on the 23rd those temps will be sent home and the rest of us old timers will be spending the day calling florists begging, pleading and promising the moon to get the orders out. A lot of those orders we will have to cancel right then and call back the customers to say, "I'm so sorry I cannot find a florist with delivery capacity in Moose Knuckle, Idaho for your grandmothers centerpiece.." and get yelled at again and again. The week after Christmas will be angry people calling in screaming that they went out of town and found the message about non delivery on their answering machines after the holiday or those that waited days for delivery and didn't get it. I'll be kissing a lot of ass and apologizing left and right, just because some temp doesn't understand the damn job!

But no SC/EW situation could equal the cursing out I got the day after Valentines Day by a producer at Disney who's girlfriend didn't get her arrangement that she'd ordered the day of Valentines Day and was told by the temp couldn't get out until the day after Valentines Day very clearly. She cussed and spitted and demanded that we deliver the order totally for free that day and said that her girl friend had been soooooo disappointed by the lack of Valentines Day flowers that she tried to kill herself and now was in a locked mental ward at Cedars Sinai Hospital. We had ruined for all time and eternity their very first Valentines Day together and that could never ever ever ever ever be redeemed.

Also, doctor man? What the heck is wrong with you?! Your time isn't more valuable than anyone else, just more expensive. You need to plan your day better, or, y'know, hire a secretary.
But what if it's his secretary that he's "boinking"?
