We still got 320,000 people without power here.

I didn't get affected (thank you God), mostly up north did. We got a bit of ice covering the trees but we did get rain. Lots and lots and lots of rain.

And I wants teh snow, we got a quarter of an inch and all the rain melted it.
We got the rain too. So we were "lucky" in that we didn't lose power or have ice on everything..

    Except, my grandmother's basement leaks.

And my husband and I sleep in the basement.

And we woke up at 4:30 Friday morning to over an inch of water in some spots (fortunately, the spot with the beds is "uphill" and the last to flood.)

5:00 that night, after my mother shows up to relieve me for nursing grandma, we're still mopping up water.

So it was me, my bedridden grandmother, and my 3 year old in the house for 6 hours until my husband got sent homefrom work. At least the little one had fun splashing.
Any day you're looking down at the dirt instead of up at the dirt is a good day.

Will you people please quit swearing? We have enough *shit* in Wisconsin right now as it is, and only need about 90 more inches until we reach last year's record totals.

AND the way it is going this year (again with the snow BEFORE Thanksgiving and just after) we are on track to go for the record again)

not that I mind the snow --- I just wish the morons out there would realize that bad weather should equal better tips

BUT BUT BUT the snow is such a hassle for them! How dare you expect to be compensated more for it when it's such a problem for them tooooooooo.

We got rain allll day on Thursday. And a fair amount on Wednesday, too. My friend lives right down the street from the water and was flooded in on Friday morning; they were late for work waiting for the water to recede. My brother got water in his basement, too. A perk of living in an upstairs apartment, I suppose...don't have to worry about such things.

As far as I can tell, Finns tend not to build basements into their houses - instead they build underground garages, at least in urban areas where space is at a premium.

So if anything floods, it would at least be something that has a chance of being usable afterwards.
