  • Friends in high... or low... places

My co-worker on the night shift had a guy acting suspiciously around the porn magazines, sure enough after the guy left he went over and found one of the special magazine-and-DVD packs ripped open and the DVD missing.

20 minutes later the guy came back, returned the DVD, apologized, and said he'll come back later and pay for the magazine.

The twist... he was wearing a t-shirt from the local outlaw motorcycle gang. The same gang whose leaders buy all their smokes from us.

My co-worker reckons he's a low-ranking member who nicked the DVD, went back to the clubhouse to show off, and was told in no uncertain terms that he was going to return it and pay for it.

Haha! It's funny when your outlaw friends tell you that you're being a d-bag and you need to show some respect. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Well, despite being criminals overall, some biker gangs do have rules.

Nice. Lots of places will reject bikers just because, and I guess they don't want to shit on one of the ones who allows their custom.

To be honest, not all bikers and biker "gangs" are criminals. Some of them are perfectly nice, law abiding citizens.

Not all, but some. Just saying.

the OP mentioned that they were outlaws. if you're a real criminal you dont want to get picked up for something stupid because of whatever illegal things you have on you. that would kinda suck to get picked up for shoplifting and end up with felonies because you got searched wouldn't it?

I think that is the real reason. The club could have all sort of illegal stuff inside, the police may even know about it, but without cause they can't get a warrant to do a legal search.

One complaint like this filed with the police would be all they needed to get a warrant to turn the place over.

Most motorcycle clubs have a simple rule: You don't s**t where you live. This means that in their neighborhoods and at businesses they use, etc., no matter what other types of things they're involved in, they are law-abiding and don't cause trouble, and they will usually shut down trouble that arises from others.

I assumed the outlaws the OP mentioned were the gang the Outlaws. And no, not all of them or all of their members are criminals. Used to be maybe, but not necessarily anymore.

And I was talking about biker gangs, not motorcycle clubs.

Just saying, they aren't ALL criminals. Granted, most of them might be, but not all.

Well since these guys go and get their smokes from you, you can always rat the guy out if he doesn't pay for his magazine.

And I know that this is off topic, but go and check out the Southern Cross Cruisers Club. They actually busted in on an attempted robbery while their meeting was right next door! They actually managed to grab a few of the guys, and when the cops got there, the criminals were VERY happy to see them.

Wagegoth beat me to it. This is probably exactly what happened.

Many, many years ago, I worked at a biker bar. They were always very respectful to me, and very protective of me. I was only 18 at the time, and they pretty much adopted and looked out for me.

All kinds of cr@p happened off premises, but never in "my" bar!
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

for the OP however, it sounds like the gang figures "we buy our smokes from this store, it's off limits for dumb shit like this"
