  • And this from a lawyer...

Haven't posted here in a while, so I thought I'd mention this moron.

Call comes through. "I've got this toll notice. What happens if I don't pay it?"
"Well, we send a reminder with another fee, it that isn't paid, it goes to the police who issue a fine".

"Well, I'm a lawyer, and they don't issue fines. I'm not going to pay this. Do you really think they'd take me to court over $16".

Conversation ensues, during which he indicates that he's already paid for it, but he instead chooses to be belligerent. By this stage, I've already issued first warning regarding swearing.

So, I take conversation back to 'if he's already paid, what's the situation', where he comes in with "I've already given too much money to you f***ing Dogs..." <click> (if I'm hanging up because of swearing, you know it's not gonna be nice - cos I can take some - but not others...)

From what I gather, for the next 10 minutes or so, he tries to ring back just to get me, just to say "Frank*, I'm not paying and your a f***ing faggot". And then hangs up...

The fun thing about this - yep, he will get taken to court... but not by us.

    Gotta love lawyers.

Yep. Some attorneys think they are smart enough to be able to play any system or procedure to their advantage. It is so funny to see them falling all over themselves in a panic trying to set everything straight once the system they thought they could beat ends up biting them in the butt. They also forget that the very people who could make their lives much easier are the ones they are insulting and bragging to about how the rules do not apply to them.

What was once a $16 civil fine can increase to over $100 once court costs and late penalties are tacked on.

What South Texan says. It's plain mystifying as to how people who are supposed to know the legal system think they can bend it. It's especially mystifying to other people in the legal profession!
