I will never understand why people get so huffy over showing ID....I never will.
Because if you're only IDing some customers and not others, it easily feels like harrassment or discrimination. "Why you asking me for ID and not him?"

Bars often ID e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e entering/ordering so patrons can't bitch they're being subjected to illegal discrimination.

Oh man I examined that card so hard my eyes hurt. I think she just didn't want me to see the picture cause I couldn't find anything wrong with it. :shrugs:
gah, people EVERYONE looks bad in ID pictures (I look either stoned, drunk, or extremely tired in all but one of mine, and in that one I look like I'm about to get snarky) so yeah, quit bitching about wanting nobody to see it, or stp buying things you know you'll get carded for.

*facepalms* I forgot the SC element again... *restarts equation and makes it a simple story...*

See Samantha Customer buy Alcohol, Samantha has to show ID, samantha shows her ID like a good Customer and get Malty Goodness.

We sell condoms where I work.

I never asked for ID when people bought them because I would rather them use the condoms than get an STD, etc. Plus I never really thought there was a law against it.

But one day this young girl about 16 came in and bought 3 packs of condoms. Theres 3 in a pack. There was a cop in line 2 people behind her and after she left he informed me I should have asked for ID. I told him the reason I didn't ask and he said he understood but that I should have ID'ed her.

He didn't write me a ticket or anything and he was not with her but WTF? I would rather them use protection or end up dead or with a kid. I still don't see a law in PA against selling them to someone under 18.

Likewise. Don't sell them alcohol, they can't drink (unless they get some older friends or ransack Mommy's liquor cabinet). Don't sell them condoms, they'll have sex anyway.

Wouldn't sell them to a prepubescent, of course, but once those hormones kick in, better to let them do things the right way.

OH, funny story. I was hanging out with my friends last night and I was driving. One of them left (I'm hoping dropped) a condom (still the wrapper) in the backseat. My G-ma found it this morning and left it with a note by my computer that we "need to talk".

I'm 22 and half expected her to ground me. XD

Wait, there's an age restriction on buying condoms in the US?
If I dropped everybody who occasionally said something stupid from my list of potential partners, I wouldn’t even be able to masturbate

Besides which, 16 is legal in many places, including most of Europe - and even 14 is legal in some places, such as British Columbia. The law doesn't absolutely match morality.

Anyway, most teenagers - if they know what it is - get very embarrassed about buying "gender-specific hygiene products". It's just something about being that age. I certainly wouldn't refuse to sell them, unless it was very obvious that they were going to use them for vandalism rather than for their intended purpose.

And if you think THOSE pictures are bad, you should see first-issue military IDs (the ones everyone gets in boot camp). They make Driver IDs look like glamour shots...

                  Not that I'm aware of.

If there is it would be a state-by-state thing. (Age to buy cigarettes and alcohol is also decided by the state. Some states have raised the age for tobacco to 19; all states are now 21 for alcohol but if they wanted they could change that. I don't know if there is a federal minimum, though.)

If there is it's not really enforced. As far as I know Texas doesn't have a law restricting the sale. I'm actually surprised considering how many products are age resticted.

                        You think you had problems

If you think condoms/sex for teenagers are a problem for you, you should have seen my parents expressions when they found condoms in my bedroom as a teenager and I had to explain that I was using them as gas diffusion columns for processing hydrogen and methane gas.

Yes, that was the real reason I had them!

This was during the first 'gas' crisis and I was doing science projects at high school on how to turn garbage into fuel. My parents rarely ever asked what I was doing with odd-ball items after that.

Now I wish I had bought all the equipment I used to school instead of just the gas samples and the written report.

I assume you mean British Columbia as the Canadian Province of British Columbia. But, age for what?
Smoking - is 19 in BC, Drinking - 19 in BC, Age of Consent? 16 across Canada (14 and 15 year olds may be in a relationship with an age difference of up to 5 years though I'd say 3 years is okay, but 5, sorry, but I can't see someone in their last few months of middle school would be dating screwing with someone who can legally drink and smoke)

As I said, the law doesn't match morality. Look at the teenagers now being prosecuted as sex offenders for sending self-portraits to each other...
