  • Duty free bitch

I am really fed up at the moment anyway but another bitch of a passenger has made me want to slap her.

As per usual I got lumbered with bloody 'duty free' on my flight today and the stupid machine was broken so I had to do it manually.

One woman wanted to buy some bath oils (£20) and pay in Norweigan Kroner. I politely explained that as our machine was non-op I could only take Sterling or Credit Card. She was really pissed off and despite having a purse of £20 notes demanded to pay in Kroner. I explained that I had no exchange rate available and no calculator to work out the correct amount of change I would have to give her. Then no doubt I would be wrong and get a hissy letter from my line manager demanding to know why my duty free monies that I bank were lower than what they should be.

She said "well you are being most unhelpful, I will be writing into your airline to complain that you wouldn't let me spend my money"

I said, "I have explained to you the reasons why I can't accept your Kroner, offered you alternative methods of payment...please do write into the airline, they are the ones who have failed to give me a working machine, I have done nothing wrong."

She shoved a £20 note at me in the end still threatening to 'write in.' Oooo I'm so scared lady. All that over nothing when she had pound Sterling anyway.

I hate my job and passengers, I really have had enough. THis flight was full of moaners and rude people.

We are a transportation company not a retail establishment. Duty Free service is offered as an optional extra.

I wish I could. It's awful being stuck in a metal tube with a bunch of loons.

I think I'm coming down with flu but I've had so much sick time off I daren't go sick again. That's added to my bad mood I think.

I've never understood why people cannot understand the concept of "it's broken so we have limited ability to do things right now"
It should be so blindingly obvious to anyone.

Thing is it's not like you can call a tech and (s)he'll turn up within the hour to fix it... What was she expecting, that everyone aboard can convert currency down to the exact fractions of pence?

And to think this whole episode was over farking BODY OIL! What the heck?!? You would think she was complaining about her plane ticket due to the level of SCness she was giving you PrincessKatieAirHostess! I've found SCs will get as pissed over being overcharged $0.00000000001 on a thimble vs any other (valid) problem and its ridiculous; the amount of SC rage never equals the (minuscule) amount of the problem he or she is facing.

Ah, this reminds me of the situation I had with one of my worst SCs that threatened to complain to Corporate when I refused to change the batteries in his watches that we didn't carry at my store (following company policy.) I told him that I actually wanted him to complain to Corporate because they were the ones who wrote the rules that didn't allow me to change the battery in the first place! His response: . The story I mention about the watch battery can be read in more detail here.

I just have to say that I can't believe how badly people behave on an airplane!

I got a chance to fly to Austria to vist my husband who was there for work(company paid for it), I have never flown that far before in my life, in fact I got my passport just so I could vist him.

I was on a flight that took at least 12 hours and it was packed! I was sitting next to a smelly hairy guy who kept touching me, I didn't complain to the staff because there was nothing they could do! I got that, I just elbowed him to make him move away from me.

The food was not the greatest but I didn't complain because its an airplane and thats the way it is. I just don't get how people can complain when you are in a tube and what is there is what there is, it's not the staffs fault, it is the way it is!

I think that she was a cow that just loves attention, what goes around comes around. Don't feel to down there really are some people that do respect the things that you do. I am one of them. By the way, I had a great in Austria.

Sure, you can pay with Kroner. Just don't expect any change. Enjoy your precious bath oils, hag.
Excuse me, good sir paladin, can you direct me to your EVIL district?

Oh wait, I wonder if a working machine is out in the mystical "backroom". You know, where everything and anything a customer could want is right in their grasp? Including a working machine!

That reminds me of last night. our registers went tits-up for a minute while the net updated [grr] so our transactions were going slow. But the customers I had were so understanding, it made me hate them a little less, lol

I apologize now for anything my friend Jeremy has ever done or will ever do on a plane. He is PETRIFIED of flying, and unfortunately, he takes it out on everyone around him. He also has quite the potty mouth, and is a very angry passenger (but an absolute sweetheart on the ground LOL).

Duty Free bitch should be thankful you didn't say sorry, you can't have anything at all, Duty Free is now closed. *hug* Thank you for doing what you do, there are those of us who greatly appreciate it!

It's funny that you mention the woman is Norweigen because it reminds me of a really not fun flight I had from Oslo to the states.

Everyone was starting their party on the plane and were drinking alot, standing in the aisles bullshitting to eachother and blocking the passage way.

It was nearly impossible to get to the toilets because of all the people blocking the aisle and they were loud as hell and getting drunker all the time.

One asshole kept sitting in the flight attendant's seat and she had to tell him repeatedly to get out but he kept coming back and then giggling a little like it was funny. It totally sucked.

Luckily, as drunk as they were most of them passed out later on and then it was relatively quiet. But really, I don't want to go through that again for sure.

I've been on lots of flights and except for this one they've all been pretty good, I guess I just had bad luck that so many party-goers planned their vacation the same time as me and decided to start the party already on the airplane.
