Guest: Yea Dave, my flight leaves at 6 PM and I am asking for some flexibility on the check out time, I am coming in April
Me: OK you gotta call us the nignt before

Guest: ok let me rephrase that, I must have a late check out, it is not negotiable

Me: No sir, it's not....no late check outs until the day before departure

Guest: well you know we have been coming down there for over 15 years, I am not asking you now, I am telling you I cant be out by 10

Me: and I am telling you thats the check out time unless you pay for an extra day

Guest: I am not paying for an extra day, I am not debating this with you, asshole....I am checking out late, it's not a question, it's a statement. Do I make myself clear on that?

Me: I'll let the manager know

Guest: I dont care if you or your manager like it, this is the way it's gonna be.....I mean as long as I have been coming down there, I am flabbergasted that yuo dont want to accomodate me.

I had it out with this man again, because he crossed out the check out time on the contract and wrote 3 PM. I had to call him and tell him we couldnt accept it

Guest: Dave, you and I agreed on a 3PM checkout

    Me: no sir, we didnt

Guest: well I am not seding you a new contract, you are gonna have to take that the way it is

Me: you cant check in until you sign our contract

Guest: well a 3PM checkout is not unreasonable so I think you have to accept that and if you dont, thats ok because my checkout time is still 3 PM

Your customers have the utmost nerve and gall......not to mention testicles made out of titanium! For Pete's Sake......tomorrow I'm going to go to the store and say that I am not arguing with them and I will be staying as long as I want! Then I will say that I WILL be getting x item for x price and there will be no arguments!

How the HELL can you stand this? Every post I've read of yours is about an EW of the worst degree! You must have more patience than any other person on Earth or you drink more heavily. But I don't think there's that much vodka so it has to be the former.

The problem is that VRS works for a place that sells very expensive rentals and people think that since they pay top dollar that they should "get their moneys worth."

My extended family is going to the some island this summer for a family reunion and the prices.. wow.

After he buys the place and changes the name to Asshole Inn, he can make all the rules he wants. Until then, he can follow your rules or sleep in his rental car.

REmember teh wedding you busted up? I wish you had recorded that. THen you could use it as an example- "Yes, you will honor the check time or we will do this!" and show the recording.

but it takes even bigger ones to not cave in to them.

I mean seriously... crossing out lines in a contract? like that's legal?
hell in that case, i'm going to cross out lines in my lease to read that i only owe them 5 dollars a month.

It is completely legal to do so. Many places require all signers to the contract to sign next to the change, however, to prove agreement to said change. I would have crossed out the price agreed on and wrote in the price plus the extra day and sent it back for signature. Negotiation is important, y'know?

So this guy has been vacationing at the island for 15 year? How tedious. I might like a place but I would like some variety in my vacations. Why not go on a cruise or rent a villa in Italy for one year?

Of course "we have been coming down there for over 15 years" in SC speak means "I've been there twice there in 15 years."

how much do you want to bet his "15 years" is really just one rental every 3 or 5 years...

and yeah i can see if both parties agree to the change but not just one person
