Customers who park inside the Visitor Parking garage at the university where I & my co-worker have to buy a $5.00 token inside the building either at the vending machine which is inside the glass elvator lobby on the garage level or at the Parking office. A ticket is not needed to pay for your parking, only money is needed. The Parking office disabled the ticket machine, but they did not take it away. It is in front of the entrance gate to Visitor Parking.
I first dealt with the scamming customer & then my co-worker dealt with her. She told me what happened yesterday on her shift when she got to work today.
Yesterday:
me: me
sc: scamming customer
The phone inside the booth rings. I look up & see a green car at the exit gate. My co-worker has already arrived. She is inside the booth, & she also sees the green car at the exit gate.
me: "Visitor parking booth. How may I help you?"
sc: "The gate will not go up."
me: "I'm sorry, but the only way the exit gate will go up for anyone is after they pay for their parking inside the building."
sc: "Oh...where do I pay for my parking?"
me "Either at the vending machine on the same level you parked your car inside the glass elevator lobby, & it accepts cash only or at the parking office on the third floor."
sc: "Well...I did not get a ticket at the ticket machine when I arrived."
me: "A ticket is not needed to pay for you parking. Only money is needed to pay for your parking. So what you do is back up & pay for your parking inside the building either at the vending machine or at the Parking office on the third floor since that is the only way you will be able to exit the garage."
I hang up the phone. The scamming customer pressed the call button again, but the phone call is not transferred to the phone inside the booth. Both of us are looking at the green car wondering if she will back up & pay for her parking. She finally backs up.
When my co-worker got to work today, she told me what happend after I left work. According to the event list she had to reserve 12 spots for an event after her shift ended. She called "Lucy" to let her know she would go inside the garage to do a space count. According to the guidelines we have to follow you have to call the office anytime you will be away from the booth. She walks inside the garage & sees the same green car in the garage with the customer sitting in the driver side. She does the space count, & as she is leaving, she notices that the same green car is still inside the garage with the customer sitting in the driver side. She gets back to the booth & calls "Lucy" to let her know she is back inside the booth. The phone inside the booth rings, she looks up, & the same green car is at the exit gate.
