I am a rum afficionado, but by not means an expert, and do not recognize that particular brand name.

However, since that bottle is 63 years old, PLUS whatever aging it received initially, there are two possibilities.

    1. It is utter crap.
    2. It is going to be fantastic.

If I had to bet, I would bet on the latter....and would want to be there for the tasting.

I would suggest researching the brand name online.
Thanks for the assessment. I did a quick search on Google, and found out that "Windward Rum" was around during the American revolution, and that the name is sometimes used generically to refer to rum from the Windward Islands. I think that bottle is going to continue getting older for a while. I have many more recent examples to consume.

On a side note, the same liquor collection with the Windward Rum also had an ancient bottle of Drambuie, unopened, probably also dating from the late 1940s or early 1950s. Drinking that was one wonderful experience. A new bottle of Drambuie just wasn't the same.

I had something like this happen, except I was caught up in this maelstrom of stupid completely by accident.

A coworker took a call from a customer wanting to know if we carried cranberry juice. We do. He wanted to know the price. That's not a big deal, my CW asked me to go check, and I come back with some brands and prices.

This is where it gets bad.

The next question was, "What is the first ingredient in the juice?" I take another trip, thinking that would be the end of it.

I make three more trips over the juice before I grab a bunch and shove them behind the register for my CW to answer the rest of his inane questions.

Possibly, depending on where in Florida. But not in The Bar. I've never heard of Bundy rum, which means, of course, that we don't carry it. Yes, I know just by someone naming it whether or not we stock it. Yes, I am good.
Bundaberg Rum, created from Queensland sugar cane, in a distillery in Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia.

They make primarily mass-market rum, but apparently also have a smoother rum with a final filtering process that goes through a 'red gum filter'. (Red gum being Eucalyptus Camaldulensis, and not some sort of flavoured sticky chewing gum.)

Website, for those fascinated by rums, is http://www.bundabergrum.com.au/

And yes, I grew up in Queensland.

And on the subject of Bundaberg, they also make some really good non-alcoholic drinks. Their Lemon, Lime and Bitters is yummy!

You know I asked this guy from subway where are the $5.00 sub choices listed on the wall. He tells me it's "On the sign." I asked him where and he says it's on the wall.

(This was three places combine and all the signs were connected. So you have subway prices right next to the pizza menus of another place.

Everything was words only and one picture of a random sub.

It was really hard to see because they do not have the giant "$5.00 Subs" with choices on the bottom. So I couldn't find it. EVERYTHING was text as there was limited space on the wall.

I asked him to point to the choices.

He gives me attitude and says it's on the wall. He finally turns around and tells me the sign is missing.

so I asked him how am I suppose to order if the sign is missing? So he says "Name a sub and I'll tell you if it qualifies." I tell him I haven't been to subway in over two years. I don't have any names memorized.

He got annoyed and walked away and so did I. Biggest jerk I've seen.

I have had a few patrons at The Bar ask me about Australian rums. However, we do not currently stock any.

It's a bit harsher than something like Capt. morgans spiced rum straight, but I prefer it over any other rum for mixing.

SC: What toppings do you have.
Me: Just the standard pizza toppings.
                  SC: ....*looks expectant*
Me: ...you want me to read them?
                  SC: Yes.
I can't help wondering if these customers are anything like my wife. She's legally blind. One eye is completely useless. The other has no peripheral vision, but it still functions enough for her to get around without a cane or seeing-eye dog. Still, her distance vision for reading menus on restaurant walls is functional up to about seven feet (my estimate--we've never had that tested specifically). She'll often ask me to read the menu to her, and she has occasionally asked the cashier to either read the menu or provide her with a printed one, but she's always very polite about it.

Still, you're right in that, unless you've got some specialty toppings on your menu, pizza stuff seems to be pretty standard fare in most places.

That makes all the difference right there

Thing is, we HAVE printed menus on the counter. Right for anyone to take. I'll take one out myself if someone even looks to be having trouble with the menu boards. These people can generally read the menus just fine, but want me to list what the toppings are.

I always do so in one breath. ^^
