Of course, I have always said the most honest card game ever would be four magicians sitting around playing poker. Who's gonna cheat?
All four of them. Not for the money, but for a chance to practice their skills against a really tough audience.

Listening in could be intersting. "No, Steve, a four of a kind is four different cards of the same number."

I disagree. I think they wouldn't cheat, because (a) the other three would know what to look for, and (b) it would be nice to be able to actually play poker without people watching their every move like they were about to steal babies.

That being said, there is a story my friends told me that happened to them a while back. Three of them, who were magicians, and a fourth guy, who not only wasn't a magician but for some reason didn't know that the other three were (they do have other things going on in their lives, ya know) were sitting around the house when the power went out. And the non-magician said, "Hey...why don't we play some cards?" Three pairs of eyes looked around at each other, and a silent agreement was quickly reached: they were going to mess with the fourth guy's head.

He went nuts. He couldn't figure out, for example, why he kept getting the same exact hand say, four times in a row. Or why, if he had four kings, someone else managed to pull out four aces. This went on for a while, and apparently, the fourth guy never caught on that they were totally yanking his chain. Apparently he thought he was just having the worst luck ever!

I enjoy going to the casinos on the rare occasion. I usually only bring $20-40 and I play the 25 cents slot machines (yes, I like the flashy light and spinny noises etc etc). I have never gambled on my own and we usually end up playing until the money is gone. We always have fun. It does get a little scary when you see people there with their cards plugged into the machines, mechanically pushing buttons over and over. They do not look like they're having fun, more like they HAVE to do it. Or you get the folks who freak out because someone is "on their machine". Gamblor at it again....

The guy who won the 'glitch' money was at Philadelphia Park. He was playing some kind of slot machine when the computerized banner told him he had won 102K; he was addressed specifically by name. He went to collect his winnings and was taken to a room by security and questioned. It came out later that they thought perhaps he was in cahoots with an employee, as apparently this guy was a regular customer of the casino. Eventually he was told it was a mistake and was offered two comps for the buffet as compensation. He refused them and took the story to the media, where it has been prominently plastered for several days now.

The outcome? Not only did the casino give him the money (lump sum, I believe), he also got eight comps for the buffet. Bad publicity was causing problems, no doubt.

Weeelllll..........I do see the man's point here. Even if it was a glitch, there should be things in place to not show a patron they've won a large amount when they haven't. Don't know what things exactly, but wouldn't it just make life easier for everyone?

Exactly--that was the man's point. He felt that it was not his fault that the casino had made a mistake, that they had sent him the message and addressed it to him by name, and he had every expectation of receiving the money.
