  • Annoying persistent questioning male customer returned to bother me again

I call him a "pest", & he will not take no for an answer.

The garage was reserved when he arrived. The open sign was on because the probelm regarding changing it to full & having it permanently stay on full has not been fixed. The full sign was on this Monday & Tuesday when I got to work, but the only way it stayed on full was to disable the feature allowing access cards to be read. "Kim" is aware of the problem. The open sign had to be changed to full today, but the Parking office wanted the card reader to work as well. So now the full sign will not permantly stay on. It changed to open, & it stayed on open.

So the "pest" arrives, & I explain to him that even though the open sign is on the garage is reserved, that I can only allow people on the event list to park, & that I cannot allow anyone else to park because there are no parking spots for anyone else. He tells me the open sign is on (yes, I mentioned that to you) & that he is late to class. I tell him again that I cannot allow anyone else to park. He tells me he is late to class. So I call "Kim", explain the entire situation to her from the first time he arrived to today, & handed the phone to him. She got him to leave.

Does it cost extra to reserve parking in advance? I guess I don't understand why, if you are a student there, you wouldn't already have reserved your parking to ensure you always have access to a space.

Just say, "The OPEN sign is broken. The garage is full. You will have park elsewhere." If he keeps hassling you, just repeat this and add, "If you park in the garage, your vehicle will be towed."

From your posts it sounds as though you have a tendency to do a lot of explaining. SCs take this as waffling. Don't do it. Be short and straight to the point.

I would either take out the freakin bulbs to that sign, or tape paper over it so it can't be seen. It seems to cause you a large amount of problems.

Wagegoth speaks wisdom. The more you try to explain, the more the SC will look for a loophole. Ideally, they should give you a sign that reads "Reserved" instead of "full," which would cut down on that kind of asshattery.

Well...I would like to do this, but "Kim" the director, e-mailed me what she wants me to tell people when the garage is reserved. What she e-mailed me is longer than what I tell people. In the past I did say what Wagegoth suggested, but "Kim" received complaints from people that I was too curt or rude. She told me I had to change what I tell people when the garage is reserved, & so she e-mailed me what she wanted me to tell people.

YOu must go to a very different U than I did. A student reserved student slot would never be in a parking garage. Parking garages are reserved for $$ faculty and ripping off visitors with teh most expensive meters I have ever seen.
