  • I told you so!

I was helping another customer when someone starts to yell at me from the ATM. The ATM was like a few feet away from me considering the window I was in.

Me: I'll help you as soon as I am done with my guest.

As in shut the hell up until I have paid out this two thousand dollar ticket! There was sadly no one else in line so I had to talk to the woman who thought it was okay to interrupt me.

I looked at the card she was trying to run. I've had problems with this particular card in the past due to policy. It was one of those H &R Block credit cards people put their refund on. To me they are the biggest waste of your tax money ever because it charges you to pull the money you've already earned by getting taxed.

Now, I looked at her card.

Me: Unfortunately due to our policies unless your name is on it, we cannot finish the transaction here.

I've seen some with their names on them. We can do those. This one said H & R client or something. Its to protect YOU as to why we don't accept them without your name regardless if you know the pin.

SC: But I know the pin.

Me: Well, if it lets you take straight cash out of the machine that would be okay BUT I know it won't so you don't want to run it.

    SC: Okay.

What does she do RIGHT infront of me after I warn her? Runs the card.

I get a few more customers and then SC gets into my window.

SC: The receipt tells me to come here.

Me: Unfortunately as I explained before since your name is not on the card we cannot process it. Your money will go back to your card within a few days.

I wanted to yell: I TOLD YOU SO and why the hell did you not listen!? But then I wouldn't be posting here.

She made me go back and ask a supervisor. I kind of walked back there let the SV know what was up and already knew the answer.

Me: Sorry, we can't do it.

SC: This is BS! You should have told me!

    Me:

At that point I told her to have a good day and she stormed off. What did I Just say??? Idiot.

Ah those debit cards. My chain is offering those as well. I've been getting complaints that the issuing bank nickels and dimes the user with a charge for each transactions. I steer clients away from those for that reason.

The paper checks we issue are cashiers' checks can those be cashed at your cage?
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

Nope. We don't do cashier's checks. We can do the regular checks-- the government issued ones. I can't say the amount but if you know your refund is going to be huge, do not cash it at a casino.

Is this card for the instant loan thingy? If so, you're being usuried as well as being fee'd to death.

But don't you know? Only supes and higher are trained to answer questions with real answers. As a lowly clerk, you're paid to reject your reality and substitute it with her own.

At my major chain, the card is available for all the bank products that withhold our preparation fee, but then, so is direct deposit.

Agreed. Mrs. TGK and I have other plans for our refund--specifically a Carribbean cruise.
