  • why I hate texting

Due to net issues have not been able to get in to post this. one On the night before I was set to go on vacation a customer calls in and was the upset about the charges on her billing. She was getting charged for texting some bull crap deal where you ask a psychic(spelling)questions to which they repsond. Between .99 a message to and from.
I ask twitburger if she used the service and this is the what she tells me.
TB:Well I never used the service I think a friend did
Me:It doesn't matter who does it you are responsible
TB:So when they text message back it costs?
Me:That's right and since it's your phone you pay.
TB:But I didn't know they would charge that much
Me:So you admit you used it then?
    TB:Well I might have I don't remember I'm very busy.(yeah coming up with lies)
Me:The charges had to come from your phone
TB:So when I sent the messages they charged me?Well there was nothing said even in the messages so I don't think I should have to pay.
Me:You created the charges you admited to usage here is the number call them.
(btw my company has a policy about crediting for stuff that comes from a third party and she was out of the policy)
TB:But it's not fair, there was nothing saying I would be charged. I know now so can you waive the charges for me?
Me:Call the company they are from and they can help you. Have I been able to answer everything else?
TB:Your not listening to me, I didn't know I was going to be charged so I should not be. Why are you unfair?
Me:As I said you created the charges you pay.
(I have seen these sites I know they say something in the messages about charges. )
TB:Well fine I'll call back and get somene else.
    Me:That is your choice
    click
I love how we go from I didn't do it to I did but I don't think I should pay.

Something the younger generation seems to have failed to notice. Ain't nothin' in life free. There is ALWAYS an associated cost, and they're sneaky about hiding it.

That reminds me of my friend, she ordered this wallpaper thing from one of the TV ads, not paying a bit of attention to the fine print that said essentially "yes this wallpaper is absolutely FREE! but you pay 7.95 monthly subscription fee billed to your phone until you call this specific number and jump through hoops to cancel"
Though at least she didn't whine about how unfair it was and such... she just called and cancelled, and chalked it up to "live and learn"

It has nothing to do with age, unless she were 13 with her first cell and no parental controls. This kind of thing runs the complete age gamut.

the bad thing is the kids who do it and the parents don't want to take responsability. What's more messed up is some of the makers of cellphones have in the handbooks, do not give your cellphone to a child as they will run up a high bill.

This is why Australia is good. We have pre-paid mobile phones, as well as normal post-paid bills. Want a phone for your child? Grab a pre-paid. Voila! No more high bills.

We have pre-paid, too, quite a few, it's just much less expensive for us to have a family plan. We also have the Firefly and Kajit phones that are designed specially for kids. I checked them all out before I signed up everyone.

My roommates phone was stolen and in the course of 2 hours the thieves charged up over $100 in rap ringtones. She called the phone company and they blocked the phone saying no charges were pending. As soon as she reactivated a new phone that $100 hit her account. She called the phone company and they took care of it. This is just letting SC's know that I have been a retail slave all my life and when you are polite and right other customer service people will help you as much as possible. Just don't try lying and making up stuff.

                  God, I remember these....
At least once a day, I got someone whose child had gone over their texting plan and they didn't think they needed to pay. Reasons include:

                  1) They took the SIM card out of their phone and put it in a new one.
                  2) Their child didn't know any better.
                  3) Their child was in school. How could they text so much (my personal favorite)?
                  4) Obvious system error (right. because the system is texting "LOL mai parentz r n00bz!!" )
I have a...thing. Wanna see it?

It's horror stories like this (from the SC's perspective) that make me smile, knowing I have signed up for UNLIMITED texts.

Being the text whore that I am (the redhead calls me "Paris Hilton"), it is probably a good thing.

the reason the charges showed up is because most companies can't see the charges for up to 48 hours and by law we can't even say if we see them until the bill posts. Or so I have been told.
And for our company everything that Nurian says but the first one is ours. I have had people get new phones and they say I bought the phone from someone else and it just started. sure and I'm santa.
I beleive if you take responsability and let us know the phone was stolen you are doing the right thing. Our company can credit up to so many days before you report the phone. One woman never reported and wanted the charges waived and would not beleive because she never reported the phone that we were not going to waive the charges.

I have unlimited texting too. Way cheaper. My husband and I text all the time because I can't always talk, especially at work. My husband also likes me to text him shopping lists because he is the worst at losing papers.
