I have never, EVER said "aboot." I pronounce it very clearly "ab-ow-t." "ow" like "that hurt." I do not know anyone who says "aboot." I'm pretty sure it's just a central Canada thing.
Has to be cuz I also never heard aboot other than on the Just for Laughs festival when american stand up comics make fun of us.

Central Canada? Pfft. Saskatchewanite here, born and bred, with family all over both Alberta and Manitoba, and I've never once heard "aboot". I've never, ever heard that term used in anything but satire. Although we do have "bunnyhug", which is even weirder.
