What makes them think if they are rude and demand service that we are going to just stop the world for them, to hell with being closed, take it up the tail pipe and serve them?? Idiots.
Very simple. Just call corporate and tell them a one-sided cock-and-bull story about him arriving over an hour before closing and then being "rudely" turned away for no reason!

That scam's like the Nigerian Scam: Old as dirt but (sadly) works.

Go to Steak and Shake, asshole.
Okay, funny internet moment. I was a little fuzzy headed, read that, and thought "There aren't any Steak and Shakes around here. And why am I an asshole?"

Okay, maybe I was a LOT fuzzy headed...

The worst is at the start or end of daylight savings. Working opening at a store that opened at 6 am, the day that the clocks changed:

SC: "I thought you guys were meant to open at 6"
Me: (thinks: uh-oh, first customer of the day and it's an arsehole), "It's 6:30 now and we're open."
SC: "No it's 7:30 now, I was here at 6 and there was nobody here."
Me: "Daylight savings ended (or started, I forget, it was the one that makes the time earlier than idiots who forget to set their clock think it is) today, so you were here at 5."
        SC: [mumbles incoherently, wanders off]

I hate the ones that do really show up at 7:58 with all there friends and they have like 10 items and so you dont really close until 8:15.
I almost did something like that once, purely by accident. I stopped at the local Arby's one New Year's Eve on the way to a party, just before 8:00. No one said anything to me when I ordered, but then I noticed they were already cleaning the place. I asked if they were closing, and they said yes, at 8:00 that night. I apologized and took my order to go, and ate it in the car on the way over.

I made it out of there about 7:59, and felt a little less guilty since I wasn't going to be keeping them open past closing time. As I was leaving, three more cars pulled into the parking lot. I felt so bad for the people who had to work there that night.

Man: "Well, my watch says it's 7:58, looks like y'all's gonna serve us!"
Me: "Sorry, sir, but we go by our own clock. Like I've said, I can't ring up your order right now, the tills are closed."
Man: "Well that's some bullshit! MY watch says that it's 7:58, and ya'll's hours of op-E-ray-shun (yes, that's how he said it) says you close at 8:00! Now get your ass in gear or I'll tell yer boss!"
Me: "Hey Billy Bob...we're CLOSED. Besides, your sister's probably getting lonely."

I've actually had this happen to me at a pizza place I worked at a couple of years ago. We too closed at 8 on the weekdays, and it was pretty slow that night. I'm doing some early cleaning in the front, then look up at the clock, which says 8:01. Whoops.

So I head on to the front door and lock it. Walking back, I'm not 5 feet away from the door when I hear it being banged on. I turned around and here's this guy in loud shorts wanting in.

                  Me: Sorry, sir, we're closed.
LSG: (loud shorts guy) Aw, c'mon man, you can't be closed, it's not 8 yet.
Me: Actually, sir, it's *looks back at the clock in front, which now reads...* two minutes past.
LSG: No way, dude, I still have a couple of minutes left! *presses watch on his wrist to the window which, if I remember correctly, actually says 7:58 on it*
Me: Sorry, but we go by the clock that we have here.
                  LSG: Aw, c'mon, man!
Me: Sorry, I'm afraid I can't help you, we're closed.
LSG: *puts on classic cat butt face* Well, fine, I'm never coming here again! *storms off*

                  You won't be missed, jerkface.

You know what's worse than a SC who thinks the world operates by their watch? A supervisor who thinks the world runs by their watch. I may have posted this before, but I don't remember. My apologies if I have.

During the days of my supermarket job, I had a supervisor who did that. That might have been fine if his watch was set to the correct time, but it was about 5 minutes fast. He'd tell me I was late for my shift, when according to the PUNCH CLOCK I was on-time or slightly early. No amount of arguing would convince him his watch was off.

"But Mr C goes by the time on his pager!"

Yes, Mr C does sometimes go by the time on his pager. However, a couple things to note about that.

                      1) He only did that for determining when it was time to close, not for saying if people were late. For that, he'd refer to the record of punches on the TIME CLOCK.

                      2) He's the GENERAL MANAGER. And as the GENERAL MANAGER, he has the privilege of making the decision on when to close, and if he wants to use the time on his pager for that, then as the GENERAL MANAGER, that is his prerogative. You, on the other hand, are the lowliest of supervisors, and have not yet earned such a privilege.

Luckily, he had no authority to get me into actual trouble unless I did something shockingly bad, so all he could do was piss and moan.

Finally, the department manager decided to show this guy who was boss. I walk in - on time - and this douche again starts telling me I was late. But before I can say anything, the manager walked by and said "Dave1982! Right on time! EXCELLENT!!!"

I was never given any crap by that supervisor again.

This is somewhat but it depends on the phone and the carrier. I used to have a piece of crap Nokia, with Sprint service. After a daylight savings change, the time on the phone was off an hour, so I reset it, only to have it immediately change back to the wrong time. As it turns out, it was set to automatically update the date and time based on the what time the Network thought it was, and someone at Sprint didn't update the clocks for DST.

So I switched off auto-update and the time held......until I made a call, and then it changed back again, even though auto-update was off.

As I recall it took a couple days before they got the network time straightened out.

Strangely, neither. Just that fuzzy-headed feeling you get after staring at the same project for an hour.
