  • Garage reserved & customer on cell phone w/ window rolled up

This happened yesterday when the full sign was on. Today the gararge is reserved, but the open sign is on. One of the employees representing the company that installed the 2 gates in front of the Visitor Parking garage came that day to repalce a piece of equipment that was supposed to fix the problem with the gate counter which was not working properly. The settings that were used to control the software for the full sign were changed. Turns out the wiring inside the control box for the entrance gate is wired incorrectly

    me: me

customer on cell phone: pulls up to the gate past the window

    me: I open the window

customer on cell phone: will not roll down window. Looking straight ahead. Still on cell phone.

me: window is still open waiting for her to roll down her winodw & back up. Does not do that; still on her cell phone

me: looks at the full sign; she will not be able to enter with the full sign on; so I raise the gate

customer on cell phone: pulls up to the entrance gate; can't get into the garage

customer on cell phone: honks horn

me: facing the street in front of me

customer on cell phone: honks horn

me: still facing the street in front of me

customer on cell phone: honks horn

me: *back up, & drive up to the booth to talk to me*

customer on cell phone: honks horn

me: *back up, & drive up to the booth to talk to me*

customer on cell phone: honks horn & then walks up to the booth window

    me: *finally*

customer on cell phone: *still on cell phone; tells person on the other end to hold*
"Yeah...I want to park & there are spaces available, but I cannot get into the garage"

me: "I'm sorry, but there is a reason why I opened the window. It is to tell people that the full sign is on because the garage is reserved, but I cannot do that when they are on their cell phone & won't roll down their window so I can speak to them."

customer who was on their cell phone: "Oh.. but there are open spaces in the garage."

me: "I'm sorry, I understand that, but I can only allow people on the event list to park"

customer who was on their cell phone: "Oh..ok" *walks back to her car & leaves*

Y'know, most people, after pulling up to a manned parking garage gate that doesn't open, even after waiting 5-10 seconds, will look around, make eye contact with the attendant, at least gesticulate as if to ask "what's the deal?" and when waved to roll down their window, will do so in order to verbally query the parking situation.

Of course, "most people" don't live in your town...

At least that should make things slightly better. Right ?

Now all we need to do is poison the horrible underling. I still vote for treating the place with hydrofloric aicd.

We all know SCs don't read signs, so what difference will a fixed sign make?
