  • Price board idiocy.

We've got a new price board. It now includes the price you'd pay if you had a discount voucher (worth 4 cents per liter, obtaind by spending at least $30 at particular supermarkets).

You can probably guess where this is going....

All through my shift yesterday I got variations on "the pump is wrong" "you forgot to change the pump" etc. The thing is, they pull up to the pump, see the "wrong" price, fill up anyway, and then complain. And when I explain it, they throw their money at me and walk out.

My theory is that they know what's really going on but think they'll get a discount if they kick up a fuss.

The independent one where we can get away with a lot without worrying about what head office will say... e.g. my boss threatened to throw an SC into traffic once (in his defence, the SC started it)

Quick update: these people are apparently so annoying that somebody wrote about it in the staff communication book, specifically saying people are too stupid to figure it out.

That's a good theory, but I always find the one that says the customers are clueless morons tends to be true more often.
Excuse me, good sir paladin, can you direct me to your EVIL district?

Well there is that... like the guy who tried to argue that since the price board said LPG was 55 cents per liter, premium unleaded should be 55 cpl also. Regular unleaded is usually slightly over double the price of LPG, and premium is of course more than that.

I found that people generally see what they want to see. During a special discount period, we had large posters saying "Discounts up to 60%", for some customers the letters came to life and reorganized themselves to: "Everything 60% discount".

Yes, we get that too, and then they ARGUE that the signs are misleading! In their defense, our sale signs ususally read like this:

                  up to50% off
                  the original price

But no one bothers to really look at them. and please don't tell me that everything should be 50% off, it just doesnt' work that way!

Edible people are stupid, and if your signs are anthing like the Caltex/BP's in NSW it very clearly states that is the 4c off price.

I mean its only been around for a couple of years, pay attention people.

BTW I assume Liberty is a SA thing!

And I miss my LPG car!!
every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.... for every person I can stand being around there is and eqaul and opposite idiot....... -_- damn stupid people

I have seen that in my area. One of the biggest supermarket chains in the are has three price levels.

                      1. regular price
                      2. price with store card (5 cents off regular price)

Both of these are posted on the signs
                      ..............REG..PLUS..PREM
                      PRICE.....1.80
                      W/CARD.1.75

                      3. If you scan you card in store you get a point for every dollar you spend. When you earn a certain about f points you get a certain amount per gallon off(varys be promotion/season).

I have seen SC's complain and even refuse to move their cars when they see another customers pump show cheaper price than theirs due to option #3. That is just from getting as not not working their. So if you use option #3 would pay say 1.75-whatever point value you have

Nope. There are Liberty gas stations in Virginia. Most likely a different company though.

The price boards were eventually investigated by the ACCC as customers were complaining about deceptive pricing. No people. read the freakin board. All the information is there, you are just too stupid to understand it.
