So sad that you have to include that or risk a "OMG you mentioned someone's race! You're a racist! When did you stop beating your wife?" type comment.
I am a white (almost pasty ) and my beautiful fiancé is a black woman, both of us live in the south, important later.
I must confess that i say alot of things to her that an outsider would misunderstand to be " racist" its important to know the person u may be joking with, a relationship and a willingness to take the jokes yourself,
I LOVE MY HOT CUP OF MOCHA-LOVE
thats why i call her 'mocha'
anywoo being a interracial couple in the south is better than one may think, she and i see more and more all the time.
there was this one guy in my college classes, a much older black male that HATED the fact that i was marrying a black woman
some people honestly disagree with it and thats cool, to each his own,
this guy HATED it, so he made my life a living hell for it even after making me miserable through several classes and labs he called me racist againist black males... but it was common knowledge he disliked white males, it is a deflecting mechanism
i think the lady in this story was doing the same thing, anywhoo thats enough yapping lol

Yeah, I do that with my homes too. They don't mind. Serously, you have to be able to laugh about such things or you just gonna end up an ass.

Where the lips are pursed/puckered in a display of annoyance. If deployed correctly then the lips resemble a cats arse. Hence cat butt face.

              Been there, done that

Years ago, I was working for a movie theater here at a mall, so we got all sorts of kids parents should have been sterilized for having. We had a group in a theater throwing things, making noises, being a general pain. Being dark, and packed, we couldn't find them. Someone reported they were shooting silly string all over. So when the movie ended and this group of kids were coming out, one started spraying his buddies with it. 2 hispanic kids and a black kid. I marched them right up against the wall and said empty your pockets, who has the silly string. The black kid, ever so quick on his feet, said the only reason you stopped me is because I'm black and you're white. Thats racial profiling. This coming from an 8 year old, so I knew he'd been busted and played it before. I said take off your coat. Why? TAKE OFF THE COAT!!! So he does, and out falls the cans of silly string, and his back is covered in silly string. I ask, so you don't know anything about any silly string? No, it's not mine. I threw them out of the theater, flat out told them children or no children, if I ever saw him in my theater again, I was calling the police. So I'm furious. I was maybe 20 at the time, was born in Arkansas, and had never been called a racist in my life. So he elaves, I'm still furious, let my managers know what happened, and they send me on break into the mall. And guess who I just happen to run into? The kid and his mother.

So I tell her exactly what happened, how there had been numerous complaints that he was causing problems in the theater, and how when I caught him on the way out, he played the race card. I was expecting the halfassed, unapologetic he won't do it again bit, but no, she surprised me. In front of the entire mall, she slapped him so hard upside the back of his head, his eyes popped out. She went off. Ripped him in front of his friends and everyone. hen his father shows up and asks what's going on. So the mother explains to him junior's been causing trouble and playing the race card. He then tells me, oh, I was LAPD and I've taught my kids to be careful of getting into situations where race could be a factor. I laughed at him, and flat out said it, Asshole, I don't care if your kid is black, indian, asian, or white, he's stupid, he's a problem, and he got his ass busted red handed with 2 cans of silly string in his coat and most of it all over himself and my theater. Then mall security showed up. I thought it was because the mother slapped him. Nope. Turns out junior had gone through 3 department stores and vandalized them with silly string and permanent markers, something in the range of about $2000 worth of criminal vandalism. I looked at the father, and in a very, VERY bad southern accent, said, Yes sur, why I do beleeve he just be a victum of racism, why them bad, evil ol deepartment stores do hate themselves black folks. I told the father, flat out, if I see you or your kid in the theater, I'm calling the police and my lawyer. Security went one further, banned the father and the child from the mall, which also included about 4 restaurants and 3 other stores outside the mall, and actually walked them to their car to get plates and license information.

It's bad enough in El Paso that hispanics and blacks cannot get along, at all. I've seen prospective residents in my apartment complex, back after Hurrican Katrina, mention something about how 'dark' it was in our complex after we took in 24 refugee families, and then leave.

                Reflex

It really is a reflex with some people.

I always remember the day Ben Johnson got disqualified, and my Mom as soon as she heard the news started to claim it was only because he was Black and they (who are they anyway) did not want a Black man to win.

My brother and I just stared at her for seconds before pointing out that the next runner now the winner (Carl Lewis) was also Black, and the runner behind him? Yep, Black also! And the third runner once again Black!

You needed to kick out the four runners before Mom's claim could even become true. And still after this she still was looking to claim that it was because he was Jamaican! This dispite that fact he was running for Canada.

Some people don't want to let go of the old excuses.

To which I would feel obliged to respond, "right after you stopped beating yours."

IMO, the disclaimers are only continuing the problem anyway. But that's for fratching.

I usually try to make a guess as to appearance based on the way they talk anyway. Most come out looking like my mom, who can be one of the worst SC's I swear.

Yeah, the father was just trying to get away from dealing with it. the mother even chewed him out right there, saying, no, your boy screwed up. This LAPD crap ain't going to fly. One of these days your son needs to learn respect. So on and on. But the father acted like it was MY fault his kid got busted in the theater, and then got caught by the amll security. I think he was doubley pissed when he started getting bills for restitution from the stores in his name for everything his kid ruined.

                        >.> at least I am not the only one whose mother can be a sucky customer. I swear sometimes mine is from the 9th level of hell, yet on the phone she is a soft spoken angel. Unfortunately all my worst SC's sound that way to start with as well...

                          Heh,

During my security days I threw an obnoxious chav out for being, well, obnoxious. There he stood at the front of the store screaming at me

"Iz it coz I iz black, innit?"

                          He was whiter than snow.

IMO, if a word or phrase of any kind offends YOU then YOU should not use it either. Nothing is more offensive to me than African Americans calling one another the N word, or Latin Americans calling one another the S word. Why is it OK inside your race, but not outside ? I certainly don't go around calling fellow Caucasians "cracker" or "whitey" . I find any racial derogatory term pathetic and stupid. And to call someone out for being a racist is nothing more than a last ditch effort to save face when they have no other comeback. Also extremely pathetic and stupid.

obviously a total Uncle Tom Race Traitor who utterly sold out to The Man.
I wish this hadn't become so firmly ingrained in our lexicon as someone sucking up to the white man. Tom is brutally beaten in one instance for not whipping his fellow slaves and is eventually murdered for refusing to give away two female run away slaves. He maintains his faith and his character throughout the book and is exemplary in his attitude toward both races. How this is a bad thing escapes me.
