Deepak Chopra says, "Fear deprives people of choice. Fear shrinks the world into isolated, defensive enclaves. Fear spirals out of control. Fear makes everyday life seem clouded over with danger.
The only highlight of the day was a charming elderly titled Lady who being 'old money' rather than nouveau riche was so lovely I wanted to take her home with me.
I've done a good deal of reading about daily life in the 19th and 18th centuries, including life amongst the 'titled' class.
People nowadays who become wealthy, I think, imagine themselves to be the same as the aristocracy was in those eras. The trouble with this is, they only equate the social prominance those others enjoyed with their own new-found status, without remembering that there was also a code of conduct that went along with that prominance.
I once read something from the period like: "A gentleman or lady does not cause others pain." The narrative went on to explain how one should always ensure that, by neither word nor deed, that they were the cause of making someone else feel uncomfortable or embarrassed.
I dunno, I think it was over the top. I hate it when people pull the "There are so many ills in the world, so stop whining" card. It's basically the ultimate guilt trip, and I hate those with a firey passion. She may have been annoying, but I'd have had a talk with customer service over that one.
I'd normally agree with that, but the SC brought that on herself.
It isn't the OP's problem they ran out of SC's beverage of choice and she didn't need to make such a fuss about it.
