hehe.. I have a pentacle necklace I used to wear all the time. (For anyone who doesnt know the difference... Pentacle is right side up... Pentagram is upside down.)
I'm not particularly religious, but it was given to me by one of my Wiccan friends, before I moved away from home. So it means alot to me, and I love what Wicca teaches. I may not agree with everything, but I love the principals.

Anyway.... when I would wear it to work. Everyday I would get lectures about Jesus. >< My favorite.

SC: So what does that symbolize? (Pointing somewhat rudely at my necklace)
Me: Well.... it symbolizes the balance between the 4 elements (water air earth and fire) and the human soul. The five points represent the elements and the soul, and the encompassing circle represent all five working in harmony with each other.
SC: Is there anyroom for JESUS in that circle!
Me:.... I....guess...if... you wanted jesus in the circle.
SC: Do you have christ as your personal savior young lady?! Because only.......

You know what happens after this. Fires of hell, eternal damn nation ... that sort of suff.... I like christians. I really do, I think the faith is a fairly good one... I just wish that there werent those who try and force it down your throat with a feeding tube.... Didn't Jesus say something along the lines of "Let us teach by our actions" ????, but anyway... I prefer to believe what I believe.

"Faith without works is dead" is part of my Christian religion. I'm Mormon, though, so sometimes I get some guff about how 'I'm not really Christian.' Meh.

Wear what you want. People have a problem? It's their problem. That's why I love this country.

I don't have this problem, as I go to an LDS school and I'm in the majority as far as religion is concerned. I think my base instinct would be to just ignore people, or buy a bigger cross.

Actually, a pentacle is just a pentagram (the star) in a circle. An upside down one is just an inverted pentacle.
Also, my first post is a threadjack. Typical.

I don't think that works on any kind of zombie. I'm sticking to hollow points.

Huh. I don't wear a religious symbol of any kind, and I get dirty looks all day.

Maybe it's not the cross? Maybe you're doing that whole selective result thing people tend to do when they're sensitive about something? Or maybe you're right--I guess you'd have to ask.

For the record, I don't scowl at people wearing crosses or pentagrams or anything like that, because I don't care.

Didn't help much against Evil Ash. Just made him more powerful.

Huh, that's a first. Usually whenever I hear of someone getting flak for wearing a religious symbol, it's one of non-Christian origin. O.o

Was it a regular run-of-the-mill cross, or an Egyptian ankh (which looks very similar to a cross, except that the top has a loop - I think it looks like a stick figure holding its arms out, actually)? I like ankhs.

What is an "Evil Ash" and can I get a plushie?

Actually that's not true; a pentagram or pentacle can be worn upright or upside down. The only difference between the two is the circle being around the star (which makes it a pentagram; though most people I know use the two terms interchangeably)
That being said, I got flack for wearing my pentagram only once...I was working service desk and a woman POKED me in the chest and asked "What, are you a Witch??"
me: "Well, I'm Pagan, but I dont really consider myself a "Witch"..."
her: "Well, that's the sign of the Witch. You better watch out.."
I finished the order, and the whole time, this woman was talking to the one she was with "Seriously, that's the sign of a Witch, this girl is a Witch...'
And when they were leaving, she kept her eyes on my the whole time she was turning around, head turning, but eyes kept on me...creeepy....

More often though, I get "recognized" by other Wiccan/Pagans when they notice my jewelry. I've been asked if I had a nice Samhain (Halloween), wished a Happy Solstice, and have gotten more "Blessed be"s in public than I ever thought possible!

In my opinion if that's coming from a co-worker... work is the place for work, not the place to be preaching any religion. Obviously it's harder stop customers from doing this but, the employees shouldn't be.

Ah the lectures about being the wrong religion my answer: all most all other religions say we are going to hell if we don't believe in them, so we are all going to hell anyway.
