I just thought that Nintendo underestimated demand when the machine was first released.

I would believe that Sony intentionally under-produced for the P3, however.

The only way they could have coped with demand was either to hold off on the release, or buy new factories.

Ahh yes, the People Too Wrapped Up In Politics For Their Own Good. In the past year or so, I've had to deal with the following:

• Somebody complaining because we had a book by a certain leggy, blond, conservative commentator on our best-sellers endstand. It wasn't our decision to put it there; the vendor sets the endstand according to the national best-sellers list.
• Somebody else complaining that we didn't have any books by this leggy, blond, conservative commentator, but we did have an abundance of books by a certain rotund, unshaven, bespectacled liberal commentator, and by a liberal commentator who used to be on Saturday Night Live.
• Somebody wondering aloud if we were "some kind of communist store" because we didn't have American flags out in the dead of winter.

And then, not too long ago, some lady threw a shrieking shitfit because Fox News was on some of the TVs in electronics. Now it just so happens that Fox News is only on a couple small TVs on the bottom shelf, off to the side, and the volume is turned down lower and mostly drowned out by the movie playing on the other larger TVs. So to find Fox News, you have to look for it, and the volume is down anyway so you can't even hear it.

This is just because we can't get those TVs hooked up to the DVD player playing the movie without a mile of cable snaking around, so we gotta show something on them. It isn't a political statement by any means.

But here she was, ranting and raving about the "neocon garbage" we're subjecting all the customers to. Had I been working back there at the time, I'd have told her. "Okay, if you're offended by our 'neocon garbage' so much, we'll put on liberal garbage from MSNBC for a few weeks to even the score. Then we'll put on CNN and everybody will be happy. Do we have a deal?"

It's amazing how some people seem to look for something to be offended by. I don't get it. Do they enjoy being offended or something?

Seriously though, there are people who will bitch about anything. No matter what it is, someone, somewhere will bitch about it. In fact, here's an asshole who did just that! That fool actually believed that because I own a Japanese car, I was responsible for the "ruining of America," and was somehow part of the "Japanese conspiracy" Give me a freaking break.

One thing I've found is no matter what a business stocks (for any reason), if you run out it's your fault.... doesn't matter if you only ordered 1 and it'd been sitting there for 5 years, or you sold 10 billion of it in one day -- it's always the business's fault for not having a time machine.
