Well lady, in this economy, if you still want to go out to eat and not break your budget, then you'll have to stick to McDonalds and BK and Wendy's. Too fucking bad, I still do it and I don't care.

What I get every time at McDonalds costs me $5 even. I don't whine.
That and Taco Bell...mmmm yummy cheap food.....

you know... the SC would probably be shocked, just plain shocked to find out how those of us on the other side of the counter are eating 'in this economy'.

I'm making due off of about $30 a week on groceries and $10-15 at most on fast food.

In this economy......I'm spending around $30 a week on groceries (thankfully I live by myself and don't mind eating Ramen Noodles ). I've cut my spending way down and currently putting any extra money into my savings or to whittling down my debt (student loans. Yay.) Books and DVDs I don't want are being sold on Ebay.

The lousy economy has affected everyone. Not just the whiny EW mom who wants some cheap french fries.
I question my sanity every day. Sometimes it answers.

Well in this economy prices are gonna go up. That's how bad economies work lady.

Did she not take an Economics class? Or at least history. I'm pretty sure they mentioned how it works during the while great depression part.
Better question: Does she even know the definition of the word "economy" or is she just using it in those phrases (they're not even sentences) because that's how she's heard it used at work and on the news?

Perhaps she confused a news story on the country's economic conditions with a news story on how to haggle for discounts when shopping...
I suspect that... inside every adult (sometimes not very far inside) is a bratty kid who wants everything his own way.

Some of the spots/articles on how to get discounts use "in this economy" like it's a magic word. The dumber ones, anyway. I have seen some good mostly-fair pieces on the subject, but not many.

So, for $101 I got just enough groceries that it took 2 trips to carry them in from the car. If that hadn't included a case of sodas, I could have carried everything in 1 trip. And that is just groceries for 1 person.
I was all set to comment on how I spend far less in groceries for a week for one person. And then I remembered that, even with the groceries, I still get a lot of my sustenance at work with my discount. And realized I might be speaking out of my own ass. (Though you might want to look at what you're buying and see if you can do things differently.)

So I am going to put that comment down and slowly back away.

              Preferably Whataburger or JIB.
I once ate at a Whataburger for 45 straight days.
