"You don't want the smell of diesel on your hands? Why not try putting petrol in your car instead?"

The most fun was people thinking they could just fill up a Coke bottle with petrol
Just last week I had a customer who suddenly forgot how to speak English when I told him he couldn't do that.

The company I worked for explicitly told us... NO helping fuel someone's car!!! (or do just about anything else to 'help' someone). Basically, someone had accidentally put the wrong fuel in once, and they got sued over it... and naturally, they lost! So that's now out the window.
When I said "From my research", what I actually meant to say was "Made shit up" - from a thottbot thread

That seems a bit extreme. O.o

We once had this guy who had a go at us cuz he'd accidentally put petrol in his diesel car; he was yelling, "You should make it more clear which is which!" Er, the diesel pump hose is yellow, the petrol hose is green. Both are very clearly labeled and there is a colour key above the pump. We let him phone the AA, who would just take him home and wouldn't really do anything, safe in the knowledge that if he hadn't been such an arsehole, we could have handed him a card from these guys who come over to the petrol station and siphon out the wrong fuel and clean the tank for customers who do this.
People who don't like cats were probably mice in an earlier life.

I had one guy who put diesel in a petrol car. He didn't get shouty, instead he decided that if he diluted it by putting in petrol it would be OK. I don't know how far he got but the traffic report on the radio mentioned a breakdown at an intersection around 200 meters away.
