I almost tipped at work today... I have the flu and had a dizzy spell. Fortunately I was near a counter strong enough to hold me up

Wait, isn't that what we're talking about?

I hated that when I was waiting tables. I worked at a restaurant (we had a 50's theme and danced every now and then just to give you a hint) with a counter. Every time I was stuck with only the counter and no tables I'd make so much less than any other time.

I actually blame Rachel Ray. On $40 a Day she advised people to save money and sit a the counter since you didn't have to tip. People think the face on the TV is right and don't think those of us on the on the counter are still earning just regular server wages.
Would this restaurant's name rhyme with "Randy's?" We just got one here and I'm hooked on it. Their Philly Cheesesteak is to die for

Back on topic: I've never worked in a restaurant but I've heard my Mom talk about doing that for a spell years ago . . . but then back in the late 70's/early 80's it seems as if the customers were a bit more courteous back then in some respects from the way she talked of those days (she also did some retail in the late 60's and during part of the 70's.)

My heart goes out to you.

Nope. Let's just call it Jonathan Space Ships. Our cheesesteaks were crap. I don't eat beef but as we were in Philly I had many a local say our cheesesteaks were awful. Our cheese FRIES on the other hand...I miss them so.

If you need another, I have some "good" tidbits on her from when she did a booksigning at my bookstore. I don't have time this morning, but even the staff that liked her before the event despised her after!
Please share. I'd like to hear these stories at least.
