How to talk back to an SC without getting fired.

    I can understand being frustrated and irritated, but there was no need to start shouting. I would have just told her she can find someone else to help her if she's going to insult me for not knowing something even she didn't know.

    When you argue with an idiot people watching can't tell who the real idiot is anymore.

    So let's say said idiot starts hitting a worker. Are they just supposed to just stand there & take the abuse all in the name of the almighty "good customer service"?
    Aren't retail workers allowed to be human?

            I've come out with a few things at moments of stress, but so far anyway, never shouted at anyone. O.o Once this crusty old fart said, "You haven't said please or thank you once,"; my reply was, "Well, neither have you!"

            I thought I'd get into trouble, cuz my manager was right there, but she just laughed. xD In any case, I certainly had said please and thank you; it's hardly my fault if the SC's head was so far up his arse, he couldn't hear me say them.

              Why is it when I have the gall to disagree with the typical sentiment on this board some person always has to throw something out there that has nothing to do with what I said?

              I said he shouldn't have yelled at the customer, he could have just as easily walked away, or snapped back without yelling. Did I say he wasn't allowed to defend himself? No.

              Did I say he wasn't allowed to be human? No.

              Yes you are allowed to be human. But if you can't handle someone calling you a name then maybe, just maybe you shouldn't work with the public in the first place.

              If someone hits you, by all means fight back, run whatever the fuck you want to do. But I hardly see how being called an immature name equates to abuse.

              But by all means please explain to me how I have offended everyone again by throwing logic into things.

              No really, please some explain to me why whenever someone takes the other side of things around here they get labeled as a jerk and an asshole?

                It's not "taking the other side of things" that gets you labeled as a "jerk and an asshole." It's acting like a jerk or an asshole that does. We do not allow personal attacks here, and what you posted was dangerously close to the line, if not over it.

                I'd like everyone to get back on the topic of the thread, and not continue arguing here. If it continues down this path, we will shut it down and begin handing out infractions.

                    I didn't blow up at her for being an idiot, I blew up at her for telling me that I didn't know how to do my job, which I take as a great personal insult since I'm always working. She didn't know a thing about me, and she thought she could get away with judging me like that? She called me incompetent, told me that I couldn't do my job, and you'd be mad at ME just for raising my voice at her? I didn't cuss, I didn't insult her, all I did was shout, and told her not to talk to me like that. And if you're willing to fire an honest employee over one idiot, than I'm glad that you're not my manager.

                        Listen to yourself. You're sounding like that lady (I use that term loosely) I talked about. Now you're telling me that I shouldn't be working with the public. Much like that lady, you 're judging me without knowing anything about me. I just explained that I'm always willing to lend a helping hand. If I wasn't, I'd have been out of a job a long time ago. Do not tell me that I shouldn't be working with the public.

                          The story originated here--a CSR wrote in to Abby saying that a customer had touched her (an irritated tap, IIRC) and invaded her privacy. Abby's response was basically, "You have to let him do it. He's the customer. The customer is always right." Needless to say, there was a HUGE backlash over here that resulted in tons of angry rebuttals being sent to her from posters on this site.

                          This is her response to the rebuttals that ran a few weeks later. Needless to say, the stupid bitch STILL didn't get it. Her tone of prose was very snotty with an almost "na-na na-na-na" quality to it.

                          I stopped reading her article after that and haven't looked back since.
