What the hell is wrong with people? I had a piece of wood hit my windsheild once. It flew off the back of a truck.
I had a bird fly into my windshield at 70mph on the way to work one morning It was flying along the road, and then suddenly made a left turn in front of me. It never saw it coming No glass was cracked, but there was some, um, birdy bits on the glass.

I can't say I've had any masonry fall on the car. The only thing that came close happened last year. I'd gone down to Grafton, WV to chase some trains. (CSX has a yard, and you can usually watch crews servicing their locomotives. If you're lucky, you can see some coal drags.) As usual, I parked behind the courthouse--there's nobody walking around on that street, so there wasn't a danger of some redneck idiot breaking into the car.

Imagine my surprise when I'm about 2 blocks away, and I hear breaking glass I literally ran to the area where the car was, and saw that the cops were already there, and cleaning up the glass. After checking out the car, I was like Turns out that one of the 3rd story courthouse windows fell out of the frame....and landed in the street, a few feet from my car!

*For those who don't know, many of Grafton's buildings are in poor shape. The town doesn't have the cash to fix or knock them down. After the coal mines closed, much of the town was abandoned, and things started falling apart. They did, however, knock down some of the worst ones (including a large church on the main street) over the summer. The roof on that collapsed, and bricks were falling out of the walls. However, if you *really* want to see decay...walk up the hill to the former high school--the entire place is falling apart!

At least it didn't suffer. Probably never knew what hit it.

Last year I was at a pistol shoot and the guy that was running it just happens to be an attorney. During a lull in the shooting we heard an ambulance screaming down the nearby road. He turned around and looked in that direction and I piped up and said "Fight the urge to chase, fight the urge to chase". He generally doesn't laugh at anything and he chuckled on that one.

Then God help him if it was put in reverse, crashed through a plate glass window, and went down a ravine.

Too bad you can't reopen part of the mines as a tourist attraction. I can see it now--"Oh honey, look! We get to put on these neato masks and ride in an underground elevator, and buy laquered and mounted half assed pieces of coal to take home. Ooooh, they even have recipes for different colored crystal gardens you can make in a bowl at home! Doncha think that would make a nifty centerpiece at our next Bridge Club? Let's take plenty of pictures of all the blackness to take home and show our neighbors in slide show form!"

But seriously, I'd like to tour a coal mine, it'd be kinda cool in an oddball way. OR you could do like they did here in Oregon, get an Indian tribe to open a casino. Its not the end of the world, but you have to be creative, after the casino opened, our welfare rats moved up to white trash, the white trash moved up to redneck, and the rednecks moved up to middle class.

I take it the rednecks there are pretty bad, here only white trash steals, and rednecks shoot thieves.

She may be totally dumb, but at least her husband had some sense.
You sure about that? He married her, after all.

So sue the ambulance chaser. "If he hadn't distracted the medical staff, I would have been able to get the surgery that would have allowed me to continue enjoying marital relations..."
I gotta stop reading comments at work...five people just gave me the strangest look when I burst out laughing at this...
"That's too bad. Hospitals aren't fun to fight through."
"What IS fun to fight through?"

I thought of that as well. I didn't want to dwell on it, however.

Good idea. Unfortunately, I was only 18 at the time, and didn't think as quickly as I do now.... My mindset was more like, "My mom is going to kill me when she sees this car!!"
