Guest: Yea Dave, I was looking at this property and it looks great but the price doesnt. We really cant pay that much and was wondering what types of financial aid packages you might offer

Me: there is no financial aid for a vacation rental

Guest: so what do you do for people who want to rent a place but cant afford it?

    Me: nothing we can do

Guest: you cant call the owner and work something out?

    Me: no sir

    Guest: thats it?

    Me: well yes sir

Guest: well how can I arrange financing for this trip?

Me: maybe your bank can give you a loan

Guest: you all cant do that?

Me: no sir, we dont loan money, thats not the business we are in

Guest: well you arent in the business of helping people either, thats for sure

Me: sir, there is nothing I can do for you if you cant afford the rate

Guest: well my family will be devestated

    Me: sorry

    Guest: oh kiss my ass

Me: sir, I need to take the next call. Have a nice day

I do believe they've killed your Giveafuck. Butthead, though. That's new. Usually they go for something more profane and equally juvinile.

I'm sure I'd have referred to the caller as "Beavis," or "Assmunch" after that

If you can't afford it, why are taking on more debt to pay for it?

          What a tool.

Hey we're looking to buy a house by the end of the year. I think I'll try that idiotic approach and we're bound to get whatever house we want, right????

Wow finacial aid for a vacation, I must admit that's a novel and truly moronic way to try and finance a vacation.

I must point out that as the caller could not afford your rates, they weren't a 'guest'. More an 'irritation'.

Dill-Hole would be a good one, too.

Seriously, since when did vacations become necessities? Did I miss that memo? Do I need to go on the news and protest that I can't get a discount on a vacation home b/c it's my right? Or just go to Daddy and tell him he has to install cable and high speed internet at the beach house because "it's the law and I'm entitled?"

He'd laugh my ass off the phone . . .

How about the last one he posted about a guy that demanded to pay ONLY $3000for an $11,000 rental.

I told my wife that's how we're gonna buy our first house. When I see one for 100 grand I'm gonna demand that the realtor sell it to me for $2000 since that's all we got in the bank and can't afford to pay more because of the "recession". Still can't figure out why she looked at me like I have two heads......

                      Financial aid? For a vacation?

                      ... ...

Seriously, the hell? You get financial aid for school and home ownership, not a luxury like a vacation. And to think the place you're renting from might help... That takes a special sort of "special snowflake" syndrome...

Can someone more knowledgeable than me tell me, because I'm honestly curious - do banks usually loan money for vacations? I wasn't aware they did that... Or that anyone would want to take out a loan for something that isn't really an investment of any kind.

Because that's the American way gosh darn it!

On a somewhat related note, I'm surprised the word "Economy" never popped up in that conversation.

They are a necessity BUT, to me a true vacation is not having to go to work for more than two days in a row. Not necessarily going anywhere, just not going to work and getting to decompress.

Not to mention the little "vacations" that I take in my head from time-to-time.

I don't know about other banks, but our local CU offered personal loans, that you could use for whatever you wanted (great for buying cars too old to qualify for an auto loan) and one of the posters hawking these showed a cruise, IIRC.
