    It's called a personal or signature loan. I would guess they're probably pretty rare right now but yes, there are types of unsecured loans that are not tied to anything tangible. But you've got to have very good credit to get one and the way this guy talks, what do you want to bet he's already in debt anyway?

            Yeah they're neigh on impossible to get right now - and I'm in a bank thats still totally stable (thank god for the boring New Zealand banking sector). We can loan for anything at all that is legal - I got one for my holiday to the USA.
