Okay where I work sometimes you work two windows. One for employees and one for customers. And you have to keep running back and forth like a chicken with its head cut off. They ring a bell (the employees) and you have to run to the back.

Anyway, this older couple came to my window and presented me a check from a casino from a different city. Now our policy is, the actual casino has to set up an account with us and the people cashing the check have to have atleast six months of play. We're not a bank and want to make sure our customers are actually spending money where they should be.

    SW (sucky woman)
    SM (sucky man)
    SV: (Supervisor)

SW: I am staying here and would like to cash this.

I wonder why they think it makes a difference if they're "staying here." We could care less.

She gives me the check and turns out they don't have an account with us and the woman has lost fifty dollars starting on that day. I knew it was an automatic no but they like it when you say you'll ask because beyond that point its no longer the cashier just saying no. So, I went into the back, SV said no and I went back to tell them the happy news.

Me: Unfortunately, the company does not have an account with us and our policy also requires that you have six months of play.

SM: That's ridiculous! We're staying here!

    SW: What about personal checks?

    I groaned.

Me: Well, yes we do cash them. We just have to (enter long ass process here, credit app etc) and we require socials.

SW: Socials? It sounds like our procedures only we don't require socials!

SM: Yeah, WHY do you need them?

ME: Uh, it's policy. I don't really know...

    SW: I want your manager!

GRR. I get SV and send her out to the wolves meanwhile I was lucky that an employee buzzed me and I got to hide in the back.

When SV was done she told me that the sucky ones said how they were supervisors at the cage of that casino and how ridiculous we are and all this other nonsense. They kept saying they know NV law and that we don't need their socials because they're not getting taxed. They must be really stupid at their jobs because the two aren't related in any way shape or form!

So... think thats the end? No... They wait until swing SV leaves and then try to cash a check. I was still there counting out. SM tried to cash a check for fourty dollars but got denied because we found out that he has NSF (Non sufficient funds) and a buttload of returns from almost every casino on the strip! So... Yeah, DENIED. FAIL.

Too bad I didn't get to see his face unsmug when they told him what we could see... And as a cage supervisor who has the same system he should've known better!

Now my question is if they are supervisors why are they acting like such fools? Wouldn't they see this same kind of behavior and realize they are being jerks? And they should realize every casino is different and we are not a bank! And I don't even know if banks cash all types of checks either... Idiots.

I seriously doubt that they work at the other casino. People will sometimes say anything to get what they want when they want it, despite the fact that it's just not going to happen.
Sorry, my love cannot be bought. And if it could, you obviously don't have enough in your account to do so.

I thought casinos often had a policy where they "discouraged" workers from other casinos (mainly slot attendants and dealers) from gambling there...

Their story does sound like the classic "I'm a LAWYER so you must do as I say" BS, however. Either that, or maybe they did work for a casino...many many years ago..

Nah, we don't care who gambles where. In fact the casino my fiance works at encourages their own employees (even on their breaks in uniform) to gamble there. We're so desperate for anybody to even come in that I don't think they care.

They did something at the Rio. I saw the woman's check. But I don't know what her job was exactly. She pretended to know about the nevada law but she used it totally wrong and I don't think she could've been from a cage with the "knowledge" she presented.

Wow, there's a lesson for your SC right there - NV laws are very different. (For example, where I live it's actually illegal for a casino employee to gamble in the establishment they work at. Or any other casinos owned by the same organization.)

Oh well, at least they'll have a nice time on their cruise down the river of fail. Bon voyage!

I never believe an SC that say that they work in the same industry as me or is in some management type of position in that same industry. Because if they worked in that industry, especially if they claim to have for a long amount of time they would've known better and not acted like complete asshats about anything that is within policy/law. Talk about an epic fail for the SC.

A bank would have allowed the DEPOSIT of a cheque, but if they had any doubt as to the validity of the cheque, they don't cash it, and they also place a hold time on the cheque to make sure it clears before they pay out any money on it.
