Boss couldn't see that it was cutting down my productivity. I kept having to stop whatever I was doing, since the computer couldn't work as fast as I did. He didn't care...until I was trying to do an important project for him. He got into trouble (with *his* boss) because I couldn't finish it on time...because the damn computer kept locking up! Almost immediately, he broke down, and bought us new terminals.

My old boss wasn't like that at all, but our IT dude definitely was.

I learned quickly that if I made it a point with the old boss that I couldn't get what he wanted done (or done quickly enough) because IT dude hadn't gotten around to fixing whatever problem I had (because he just didn't feel like doing it yet), so then the old boss would go to him to get it put on the front burner. After a few times of this, my stuff got fixed and maintained at a much better rate than the rest of the office.
