Back when I was a cook at a sports bar, we had one business make a reservation for thier office christmas party. 24 people, and we made arrangements to open 3 hours early that day so they'd have the place to themselves, unless the party ran long. They were fine with that.

The party did run long. In fact, they were there until close. 24 people, 13 hours, over 1200 chicken wings in addition to 2 full meals each, and gallons of booze. Final bill was something like $2600.00

On which they left a combined tip of $4.61, all in dimes, nickles, and pennies.
try the same thing with pizza delivery. had a company place a $2000 order for 2 seperate facilities 3 seperate deliveries each during the day one for each shift. us drivers got $0.

yeah the pizza COMPANY made money but who cares about us drivers anyway????
I'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

I love idiots who use you as a sponge for their rants on things you have no control over. I remain fairly neutral at work, mainly to avoid people who are real-life trolls. Had some guy start off on a rant again when we were trialling something, so I just looked at him and just said:

"Sir, why are you telling me this? I have no control whatsoever over what I am doing, I am trying to do my job. There is a time, a place and a person to tell these things to. Right here, right now and to any of the staff in this store is not one of them."

He spouted off to the service desk and gave them a good 10-minute rant. I bought my manager a drink as a thank-you for having to listen to the guy.

As for last-minute stragglers, I hate, hate, HATE them. And it gets worse when they fall into the EW category...namely the thought train of "Oh, I had to wait for <x> number of minutes in the deli (usually less than 10 and these aren't people on their own either...usually accompanied by 20something son/daughter) so now I'll shop to prove a point that you need to hire people who can pull food from their ass." One of these days, I'm going to tell people that if they're not at the registers within 15 minutes of closing time, the tills will start shutting down....
