Your loss. I think the whole "American beer sucks" stereotype comes from people who only drink the main brands like Budweiser and Coors. There are several smaller brands in the U.S. who have much better quality beer, or so I've heard. I really don't drink much, I just took that from what my dad told me, he usually drinks Jager and anything else German, a long with whiskey and wine.
I think it's more a case that it's really hard to get the good stuff outside of the States (couple of the specialist Ale places do some but horribly expensive) combined with the big breweries pushing their "All American" Horse ****.
Therefore US beer = Horse ****
Lady, people aren't chocolates. D'you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard-coated bastards with bastard filling. Dr Cox - Scrubs
One of the funnier paradoxes is that several Utah brewpubs consistently win awards for their suds.
I remember working on the 'Globe Theatre' at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in the mid-seventies and hearing locals laughing about PudWasser's commercials bragging about their new brewery "On the historic James River." (aka the sewer of Virginia)
