And I've noticed around my area the only people who seem to have the hundreds are those who would get their checks cashed at a check cashing place, or who for some reason think that "Bennies" doesn't mean health insurance, but is what everything is all about.

Quoth DisturbedLittleFish View PostThe customer had a card that could only be signed for.
No big deal, I handed her the receipt to sign as I flipped over the card to see her sig.
It was blank.
Eyebrows furrowed I asked her for ID, as I didn't have a clue if this was even her card or not.
As she handed it over, she has a big grin on her face as she explained that she didn't sign it so that people behind the till would ask for ID, thereby keeping her card safe!
I told her that if I took her card now, I could sign it and go off to spend as my heart desired.
"I... I didn't think of that..."
No. No you wouldn't.

Quoth DisturbedLittleFish View PostFrom reading the posts here in these forums, it's seems a pretty common thing to ask for ID whenever people use their cards in America, but this doesn't seem the case here in the UK. Like a lot of places here it's chip and pin in my shop, and as the cashier you don't even handle their card at all.
I've also noticed that several newer cards have the cardholder's photo on the front as well, which is a great security measure.Aliterate : A person who is capable of reading but unwilling to do so.

People who don't sign their card suck. Particularly signature-verified cards. Ughh HELLO it's not valid until you sign it. We use chip and pin cards here, they still have to be signed but it's not neccessary to complete a transaction. because of this, signature cards are considered really dodgy here and stores are not covered in case of fraud. So we have to ask for ID with them even if they're signed. 'Excuse me, your card isn't signed, do you have a signature on your ID or another card?' 9/10 will not understand me because they have no English. Eventually, I am shown 6 or 7 other credit cards all with NO signature and after much effort, an ID complete with signature. THANK YOU! If you don't have chip and pin, how the hell do you think your card works.

I dont get the 'i dont have my ID on me' thing.
I mean i had a buddy in college who would habitually forget his damn ID (but he'd have his wallet on him :S). keep in mind this is college... we'd be trying to get into bars, we'd get carded n he' dbe like 'oh shit i forgot my id' n have to like bus/cab it home to get it. thereby wasting time/money b/c for some reason he'd bring his wallet but he'd taken his ID out of it :S. I dont get it.
and im surprised @ the $100 bill thing, as in people paying w/one... I can't even THINK of ... 5 stores that will even take $100 bills. hell I"m seeing signs up all over now saying 'we wont take $50 OR $100 bills'Common sense... So rare it's a goddamn superpower.

At my store the cashier never touches the card, the custoemr swipes it on the pin pad. If they do hand it to us for some reason we are supposed to look to make sure it is signed, CID/See ID by it self is not considered valid.
I had one SC hand me a unsigned CC, therefore not valid. The SC goes "waht!!!?? got a problem with MY card????" Just then then the head cashier walks by. And they handle it. The SC had no ID with them and the head cashier refused the transaction. The SC stomped out and left the CC behind. A quick call to the CC company and they had us cut up the card.
