I was thinking that he was just another incarnation of the Exaggerated Allergy customer. If this type of customer doesn't like, say, tomatoes, he or she will order a burger and say, "But no tomatoes. Absolutely NO tomatoes! I am horribly allergic to tomatoes, and if I eat them, I'll DIE! ... Oh, can I have some extra ketchup packets?" There's no real allergy; they just don't like that specific food, but they think they have to ramp up their reasoning to make sure the "uneducated incompetents" behind the counter don't forget their request.

It would be the first time I've heard of religion coming into play on something like that, though.

As an active, practicing Mormon, ummm no. We can use extracts in cooking and even eat chocolate. The guy was a dingbat, plain and simple.

As far as I know doritos don't have vanilla. They do use other alcohol based flavorings though.

Not always. Processing often breaks down certain compounds in a food, and the specific one they're allergic to might be one such. I'm allergic to fresh blueberries (rash) but not commercial jam or blueberry muffins. I'm allergic to peppers, but not mild salsa, which has little enough, and has been cooked enough that it's safe.

Me too. But I prefer chocolate. Mmmmm, chocolate.

Also, one of my former classmates is Muslim and doesn't drink. Really great guy. I miss hanging out with him.
