I was thinking that he was just another incarnation of the Exaggerated Allergy customer. If this type of customer doesn't like, say, tomatoes, he or she will order a burger and say, "But no tomatoes. Absolutely NO tomatoes! I am horribly allergic to tomatoes, and if I eat them, I'll DIE! ... Oh, can I have some extra ketchup packets?" There's no real allergy; they just don't like that specific food, but they think they have to ramp up their reasoning to make sure the "uneducated incompetents" behind the counter don't forget their request.
It would be the first time I've heard of religion coming into play on something like that, though.
