Eeesh, what a scumbag with an Entitlement complex, too.

My mom is in the hospital at least once a year due to some problem with her legs. Fluid tends to pool in her legs, causing them to swell up, she develops cellulitis, and on top of all that, the arthritis in her knees is terrible, and has started to affect her hip as well. She's already had a hip and a knee replaced.

My mom's a very patient person, but some of the nurses she's had to deal with aren't as on-the-ball as the ones mentioned in this thread. One visit for cellulitis, she was put on antibiotics, and the nurses weren't replacing the IV bag on schedule. Mom would call for them to come do it, and they would either not respond, or come in, tell her someone would be along directly to do it... and then no one would show up. She ended up having to CALL HER DOCTOR (who didn't work in the hospital!), who then called up the hospital and raised a stink about it.

Wow. When I was in the hospital last after having given birth, I tried very hard not to be an annoying patient. I was to the point when a massage therapist came in to see me (my bp was low or something. It didn't make sense to me, LOL!), I was like "oh my god, don't worry, I'll be hunky dory!" One of the nurses practically bopped me on the head and said "Lay back and enjoy it. You KEEP BEING TOO NICE."

It was cool though, the nurses were really nice and even brought me ice cream one night when I was up nursing the baby.

I almost wish I had a reason to go back. Sort of. Its weird. I guess I enjoyed the attention for once, LOL.

I was in the hospital last december for emergency gallbladder removal. I had a similar issue. Except I only had to bend my arm sligtly for the thing to start beeping. No one offered to change my IV site, wish they would have, but the nurses actually taught me how to reset the machine to stop it beeping. Now that I think about they probably weren't supposed to do that. I suspect that fact that I went to school with one of the nurses probably helped in that respect.
