  • I present the brass (foot)balls award!

Wow!, this week has ended HECTIC for me (but on a positive note a had a GREAT weekly review with my supervisor).

This week had been busy on the phones and not being a sports fan I didn't know why until a co-worker pointed out football season starts this weekend.

So that means SPORTS BOOKS are jam packed with bettors and folks watching the games!. Almost all of our properties are SOLD OUT or damn close to it. I have so much material to post but I'll throw out this quick one first.

I have to give this Las Vegas local credit for having huge balls and taking a long shot. I pick up for our off strip NICE property and no players card number on the phone (this week it seems when the guests don't punch it in they are going to try to pull some bullshit). Local yokel gets on the line and he announces "I want to come in Saturday night, I'm local and a regular at your property with a players club card what is THE BEST RATE you can give ME!"

I let him know in order to get the best deal I must pull up his players card # because the rates/comps are based on his play. All of a sudden he gives me his #. I pull up his rates and see they are at a slight discount from prevailing. I stall and get information such as smoking and bed preference from him before I quote the rate. As I do this he chimes in with "OF COURSE you'll upgrade my room type and give me a nicer room like you always do because I'm a big player". I quote his rate of $2xx for the night. He makes excuses/backpedals and says he'll call back later

Just for shits and giggles I take a look at the detailed record of his play between calls. He has never played ever at the casino he was calling. The last time he played at any of our properties was 2001 he ran $10 through a penny slot in one of those riverboat states (not even Nevada). BTW he has never spent the night at any of our Vegas properties.

I have to give him credit for trying. Where is that "The Price is Right" tuba noise when I need it?
