I agree. She was pretty much bragging about what she had done, and that makes her a horrible person in my opinion. She obviously never heard the saying what goes around comes around. I'm sure she'll get hers someday.

Of course that employee deserved to get fired. If you owned the place and someone who worked for you was giving away the farm because they're incompetent, you'd want to know about it too.

Don't look at me. I have to agree with nuthing12 on that point. If you're a lowly retail peon such as myself and you've got a SC trying to haggle with you, you don't have the authority to lower prices just to get the SC out of your face. You call a manager over to make the final call (and hope that it's no).

So if the firing was because that salesperson just went ahead and lowered a price without management approval, I have to say it's probably justified. Especially if it's to the point where the lounge set was sold below cost, as mentioned in the OP.

I do hope that nuthing12 didn't mean to let the OP's boss off the hook completely though. She seems way too proud of the fact that she can get people to do whatever she wants them to do, she seems to think pregnancy=I can get things nobody else can, she probably ruined the chances that anybody else can get a discount for vaguely acceptable reasons, and she isn't bothered by the fact that her actions led to somebody else losing their job.

I dunno about "deserve" to be fired. Deserved to be retrained, possibly, so that she can maybe learn to handle assholes a little better. Some people don't have thick enough skins to be able to stand up to people like this. Or, she may have been told to "make the customer happy no matter what." I see plenty of suck going on around her from all sides.

But yeah, deserving of it or no, gloating over it is not cool.

I concur with you, Broomjockey. It's also a possibility she may have been put out on the floor sooner than she should have and may not have even been trained properly. Just a thought.

It's not that she's happy that she got the sales clerk fired. To her, that's only a sidebar to the main story and is only mentioned to flesh the telling out.

No, the part that she's all proud of is that she got a massive discount, and nobody else will ever get that big a discount on anything at that store.

The part that I think makes her sucky is the fact that she took two hours to get the discount. The salesperson had to endure two hours of abuse then got fired after that. Not that I'm saying the salesperson should have given it to her but they did endure alot before caving in.

Now I'm wondering what kind of store this was that the salesperson could spend 2 hours arguing with the same person.

I'd give them maybe 2 minutes before handing them off to a manager.
